Mandible, or suspiciously mandible-shaped shell?

Hi all!

Found this a few years ago when I was visiting the Keys with my family. Everyone has debated on if it’s a lower jaw or a shell.

I’m not entirely sure to be honest, though I lean more towards shell. In the case for mandible, the overall shape is very… mandibular? lol. The holes on the superior aspect look like they could be alveoli, and there could possibly be something of a mandibular condyle as well.

In the case for a shell, the wavey texture on one side is very much not bone like. In the areas where it is broken, it also looks like a shell, in that there seems to be layers.

Wanted to get everyone’s opinion before I do the tongue test… (joking)

I feel like no one is talking about this….

William and Jane are related!!!!!!

YEUCKKK!!!!!

When it was revealed that Jane and Fanny were Faith’s children, and thus Jamie’s long lost grandchildren, I immediately mourned Jane’s death and her never being able to meet Jamie and Claire.

And then about half a second later, I realized immediately why she had to die. William had sex with his niece!

Jane couldn’t have lived since William would have most likely continued to foster affection and eventual love for her. And obviously an incestual relationship would not have been a good look.

I don’t believe William was ever told that he was related to Fanny and thus Jane, so at the very least this fictitious character doesn’t have to live with the fact that he slept with his dead, long lost, half-sister’s daughter. The fact that this was completely breezed over also irks me a little. Jamie was well aware of William’s affection for her (per the failed rescue attempt) but no comment was made.

I don’t know. I feel like this wasn’t necessary at all. They could have EASILY made the relationship between Jane and William sibling-esque. William could have easily only purchased a horrendous 8 hours sleep in a chair that night at the brothel. But no…..incest!

I haven’t read the books yet so keep that in mind!

Thoughts?

What is this worth and does anyone know the brand?

Hi all, long time lurker!

I wish my first post here could be a request for an I.D. but alas, I need your expertise for something else.

I have the opportunity to purchase this human skeletal model, but there is no brand or identifying information to be found. I am pursuing graduate studies in forensic anthropology (and hopefully a career eventually) so I am very excited about possibly getting a good deal on this skeleton. It is an auction, and hopefully I can purchase it for a couple hundred dollars or less. I know from extensive research (I have wanted a model for a while) that good quality models have asking prices of a few hundred dollars. This one appears to be complete, and from the limited photos I can tell there is a decent amount of detail on the casts (like on the auricular surface).

TLDR, how high should I set my limit when bidding?
