Trading Winning 16oz MS-600 for 14oz MS-500

UPDATE: TRADED

Have: Winning MS600 White

Want: Winning MS500 White (or Black)

Might be a bit of a far shot but I'm looking to trade my white MS-600 (16oz lace up) for a pair of MS-500 (14oz lace up).

The gloves are new, have been worn for 6 rounds on mitts, no sweat, nothing. The laces are very lightly discoloured, from the black colour of the mitts, but these are genuinely new. So I'd only trade for a new pair as well.

Would like for the pair to be matching colour with my white Winning sparring set but open to other offers as long as not red or blue. Selling because I simply prefer the fit of the 14oz, the hand compartment of the 16oz is too big for me.

I'm also willing to buy a new pair of Winning MS500 at reasonable price, if someone has a pair.

I'm currently in Europe so would have to be EU or UK.

Where are new Boxelite gloves actually made?

UPDATE: it seems they are actually made in Mexico. confusion caused due to the glove only saying ‘designed in Mexico’ instead of ‘made in Mexico/hecho en Mexico’.

Thanks!

I saw they launched their new S-Pro Series glove. The whole company’s theme is Mexico, they use the ‘Viva Mexico cabrones’ to a degree where it becomes almost like a caricature.
But when looking closer I realized the gloves say ‘Designed in Mexico’. That doesn’t mean they’re made there. Hecho en Mexico is what you’d find on an actual Mexican made glove. Now I for my part don’t care much about where a glove is made, unless you make Mexico your whole identity and then don’t pay Mexican workshops and people to make your gloves.

But it seems they are not actually made there. Can anyone here share more insights?

(UK&EU) Selling Cleto Reyes & Casanova Gear

Just got to Europe from Mexico for a couple of months and selling some gear I had stored here as well a couple of pairs I brought with me this time.

All completely new and still sealed.

Prices + Shipping within UK & EU, payment via PayPal.

Casanova Premium 16oz Lave-Up- custom Mexican colourway 190GBP

Cleto Reyes 14oz Lace-Up - Silver - 220GBP

Cleto Reyes 14oz Lace-Up - White - 220GBP

Cleto Reyes 16oz Lace-Up - Red - 210GBP

Hernandez Premium 14oz Sparring padding - leather on white thumb strip turned yellow as you can see, this seems to happen to all their gloves with white on the thumb, BoxingCollector even has a disclaimer in the shop. Somebody on this sub posted about it and was able to turn the prt white again with a whitening product. Flawless gloves besides that - 210GBP

Review - Glez Horse Hair (14oz)

Think I’m the first one reviewing these here, so please feel free to ask any questions.

After a little over 4 weeks the gloves were ready (I had ordered a pair of Casanovas with them as well). It took another couple days to receive them within Mexico. As always sent via Fedex Express.

Short version:

Positive:

  • Leather quality
  • Padding is fantastic on the bag
  • Nice big grip bar
  • Lovely open palm
  • Design came out exactly how I wanted

Negative:

  • Thumb stripe is too tight
  • Liner isn’t very well distributed and uncomfortable
  • 2.3oz Over weight

Long version:

As always, Ambar is a pleasure to deal with. Was flexible with changes, reliable with timeline and the gloves arrived packaged well.

Both these and the pair of Casanovas Premium I ordered with them came in perfect condition.
The gloves are very well made, Casanova always use great leather and their reliable consistency is some of the best from my experience, especially at the prices range.

Some minor cosmetic mistakes among the stitching, as well as some threads of the embroidered Horse logo on the cuff being loose. Besides that,  no visible flaws.

They are more broken in than most Mexican gloves out of the box, also compared to the Casanova Premium models.

First thing I checked was the weight. I had ordered 14oz, and got two gloves both no lighter than 16.3oz. Well, they’re balanced and I rather have more padding than less. Ambar explained that the horse hair padding is pretty heavy and that they will tend to come overweight.

Fair enough. And I truly don’t mind, because the padding feels great. After injuring my index finger last year throwing bombs in my first session with a brand new pair of Cletos, I have become a lot more patient and careful with new gloves. However, that caution wasn’t needed with these. These come ready to go and the padding absolutely cracks! Might be the best sounding gloves I have ever owned.

It will hopefully ease while they break in, but similar to the Casanova Premium, the palm is so open that it takes a little extra force to make a firm fist. It might also be the position of the grip bar (which has a nice size and feel). While it’s very important to me that I can open my hand, I personally feel that the slight resistance there is to closing the fist slows down my jab. However hooks come beautifully and the sound is addicting.

I believe they use the same liner for the Glez HH as for their other models, though with this glove I’d feel they’d do better with a more silky liner. I tore some skin off my fingers within a couple of rounds, despite wrapping well. This might be amplified by the fact that the liner isn’t distributed very well, the creases around the knuckles are definitely felt. Obviously the horse hair padding gives a different feedback compared to the foam models which in my opinion makes the comfort of the finger compartment even more important. It’s a new model and I believe they will need some customer feedback to get it 100% right.

The single real issue for me is that the thumb strip is too tight. I’ve heard fighters with bigger hands complain about this issue with other gloves, but it’s never affected me, I don’t have very big hands. With these, it’s immediate, even when I try them on without wraps. With wraps it’s going to be difficult for some with bigger hands to even get in there comfortably. Definitely something they need to adjust. If anybody has experienced this with new gloves and can report that this stretches out a little, please feel free to share. I’ve never had an issue with it before.

If this would be fixed, as well as the liner situation, I’d have nothing to complain about. They’re beautiful gloves, and perform very well. However they are not as comfortable as they should and could be. I want to excuse this as I’m literally one of the first handful of people to receive this model from Ambar. With their experience in glove making, I do expect them to take it on board and adjust fast.

Will always recommend Casanova Premium/ Glez at the price point they’re sold in Mexico, absolutely worth the money and good craftsmanship. Their Glez HH model has the potential to be my favourite Mexican glove, but it needs some improvements.
