Help starting motor without controls
I have a 2001 Johnson 15hp 2 stroke that I recently removed from my boat. I’d like to be able to start it for a potential buyer, but I reused the controls so it does not have any. I’ve done some research and it appears I need to locate the 12v+, run and ignition wires in the harness and tie them together then I should be able to jump the starter solenoid to fire it up. Obviously I’d also have the battery cables connected.
Can anyone confirm the wire colors for the motor? I’m getting a little conflicting info online, so thought I’d ask. What I believe is correct is: Red/purple is 12v+ Purple is run Yellow/red is ignition
What about neutral safety switch? I’m sure I have to connect 2 wires for that as well, right?
