blastomycosis
How could an indoor cat get blastomycosis? My 7.5yo nm kitty passed away last month and I am still struggling with this postmortem diagnosis.. I just want to understand how this happened to him.

Yoshi was my best friend for nearly 7 years. We moved 6 times together...through all of the painstaking changes in my life, I always had him. Yoshi passed away last month from blastomycosis. Will I ever stop regretting the decisions I made for his health? I miss him so much. It is so hard to go home and not see him.
My 7.5y MN DSH has a giant white glob in his eye.
Two months ago my cat had several dental extractions. He recovered well, but developed an ulcer on the back right side of his mouth due to a maloccluded upper tooth poking into one of his extraction sites. Went to the vet, started Clindamycin and gabapentin. Mouth started looking much better. 7/7 I noticed third eyelid elevation. Went to the went 7/10 and was told it was secondary to mouth pain and the upper tooth needed to be removed. Upped his gabapentin, started onsior and clavamox. Took him back to the vet on 7/14 because the eye continued to look worse - foggy and red near the inner corner. Did a whole eye work-up and everything came back normal. Started onsior and pred acetate drops..Noticed on 7/15 a white glob starting on the top part of his eyeball that has grown in size since then. Looks like hypopyon but it isn't settling at the bottom of the eye, just floating at the top. Went in again today for the appointment to extract his upper tooth and saw the vet who did his previous extractions. She said the mouth looks unproblematic and referred me to an opthalmologist, we have an appointment Wednesday. In the meantime we rechecked CBC and FIV/FeLV status. Everything is normal!
I am watching him closely over the next few days until our opthalmology appointment. If things get drastically worse, I am already considering enucleation. What could be causing this?
