Question for the long-term vegans

I’ve been vegan for 19 years now. I was your clichéd noob vegan back in the day - checking all the ingredients, being a bit evangelical about it after a couple of (vegan) pints. But after all this time, and having two kids and becoming a part-time single parent, I’m kind of going through the motions a bit. I know the thing to do would be to watch films about animal cruelty again, but I still feel a bit disconnected from the idealistic person I was in 2007 and I wondered how those who are in it for life and have sustained their veganism since the dark days of Bute Island being the only available cheese keep themselves engaged?

Total loss of motivation?

Has anyone else experienced this? I started on sertraline in September, switched to citalopram for a couple of months, and then was moved to 75mg Venlafaxine in February. The moves were all for the same reason: these antidepressants improve my mood but seem to remove my motivation to do anything. All I want to do is stay home and scroll.

This was a bit of an issue pre-antidepressant, but I’d still go out, meet friends, go to gigs etc. Now I’ve basically become a hobbit - a less depressed hobbit, sure, but a hobbit nonetheless. I’ve stopped reading books or listening to music because nothing really hits like it used to, and I’m considering tapering off just so that I can feel *something*. Has anyone else had this issue with Venlafaxine?
