If you know someone who's been hit by a car

2025 had 56 deaths due to traffic violence. The most in over 30 years.

2026 has had 22 deaths since January 1. Right now, we're on track to exceed last year's death toll.

The violence is systemic, the culture is apathetic, and our environment is deadly. We need this to change.

Join us as we fight for visibility, respect, and our right to exist by walking and riding with us on May 20, 2026.

We will meet at Trolley Park at 5 PM (at 2nd and Redondo, near the site where Lori Ann Carreon was killed), and we will walk westbound on 2nd St to Bixby Park. From there, we will head south to Bluff Park for a candlelight vigil overlooking the ocean.

We hope to see you there.

EDIT: passengers and drivers of cars are also victims of traffic violence!

Car-Lite LB & Everybody's LB (chapter of AHLA) are here to present the responses for our joint candidate questionnaire, and it's as informative as it is disappointing.

The bad: not a single incumbent candidate filled out our questionnaire, even the ones who said they would (looking at you, Dr. Ricks-Oddie). Not a great look! Additionally, we don't have responses from ANY candidates from District 5, District 7, or District 9, though we did receive a "my views on housing are so complex they can't be described with a checkbox" response from Sequoia Neff in D9. If these are questions you want to know their answer to, we invite you to email your candidates and let them know your vote is contingent on whether they have clear responses for the issues that matter to you, and also encourage them to fill out our damn form.

The good: we got some interesting responses from lesser-known challenger candidates that hopefully should light a fire under the LB Establishment to actually try and run a race. Many of the seats are decided on razor-thin voter numbers, so we're glad to see a few of the challengers motivated and willing to put a clear platform out there on housing and transportation.

A full writeup and response share will come soon, along with endorsements (if any) for this year's crop of candidates.
