Cargo elevator workaround
So there’s a workaround for broken cargo elevators stuck in the down position - a way too common occurrence at outposts that prevent you from completing missions or being able to use your home hangar.
Step 1: see busted elevator stuck in down position. Hit the button to raise it and it tells you ‘Please wait’, then you get kicked out of the terminal and nothing happens.
Step 2: walk up to the terminal and press F to engage with it.
Step 3: hit the up button (bottom left) and IMMEDIATELY hit ESC to close the terminal
Step 4: IMMEDIATELY reopen the terminal. If you were quick enough the ‘Please wait’ dialog is still up.
Step 5: hit the up button again AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN.
If you were fast enough, the elevator will raise and you can send your cargo down as usual. If not, repeat steps 3-5 until it does. The trick is getting the second button press in before the first request times out.
This has worked for me 100% of the time. I ran shubin rep from 1/4 neutral all the way through contractor yesterday delivering to three outposts at crusader yesterday that ALL had busted elevators - a couple dozen missions with a 100% success rate despite all the elevators being busted. Shared with another dude in global and it worked for him too.
The cargo grid might be partially or completely busted. That’s fine - it will accept your cargo as long as it’s fully on the elevator. Don’t need it to snap. The mission completion popup (where you get the confirmation box showing x/x on the freight screen) only happened about 75% of the time, but I never failed to complete the mission regardless.
