It's time we left. Why not leave?

Prompted by a question in an ESL sub, why *do* we say "It's late and it's time we left" rather than "it's time we leave"?

I'd never given it a thought in half a century but, like everyone else in the sub, I couldn't explain why we use the past tense for an action not yet started.

The longest day

The civil war is officially over.

In this, my sixth, playthrough I sided with the Legion again. I feel a bit low right now, having refused Ulfric's last request. Despite choosing the other side, I counted him as a true friend and I think he still remembered that.

Single combat would have supplied the appropriate departure for Sovngarde, at least for one of us, but the option wasn't there and in any case, I'm not sure that I would have fought my hardest.

I didn't turn my back but I couldn't simply slaughter him.

Did I do wrong?

How does the end of such a large part of the game affect you?

Back to thecreal world, how much work would have been required to bring his level and combat XP up to match the player? He could have gone out then like the old orc.

I confess to sending Galmar off with some pleasure and I did loot both bodies, which I suppose makes me a real lowlife but wth. I might join the rebellion next time.
