Unionizing?

Is it worth it to try and unionize my store? I’m one of the older ones here (F 29). Most of the people I work with are 16-18 or very early 20’s and 90% of them don’t know what a union is when I brought it up to them casually. Our store is only a few years old and I’ve only been here since May. From talking to one of our SSV’s, the last person that tried to unionize was fired, and the people that signed union cards, our DM came in and threw them out and none of them work here anymore. I’m only working here until I finish my degree at ASU but I’d like to make a difference in the time that I’m here and hopefully help the younger generation that would come in to work here and don’t know that they’re being taken advantage of. Is it worth it though? The SSV said the other stores that unionized were closed already. Should I just take my paycheck each week and go home? If anyone else has unionized what has been your experience? Thanks!

Will I Get Paid Time and a Half for Working 10 Days In a Row?

One of my coworkers told me today that once you hit your 8th day in a row you start to get paid time and a half, is this true? If so - would I get paid time and a half for the 8th, 9th, and 10th days that I would be working or just the 8th day? Is this even if I’m not over 40 hours? Also, I was wondering if this is something that my manager needs to manually add to my paycheck, or if it’s automatic within the Starbucks system? I ask that because I’m nervous that if it’s something he needs to add, that I won’t end up getting it unless I say something to him but I don’t wanna sound greedy and annoying. Sorry if these are stupid questions, I only started 2 months ago so I’m still learning how a lot of these things work! TIA to anyone with an answer!

Side Note: I’m covering at 2 different stores that aren’t my home store this week and idk why but I’m SO nervous. I have a hard time in new environments and I’m stressed that I’m not going to know anyone/where anything is. When I get there do I just let them know that I’m covering from a different store? Do I just sign in on the iPad like I would normally at my store? How has anyone’s experience been covering at other stores? Thank you!!!

Oops…

It’s almost midnight and I just had a that’s so raven moment realizing that today when I was making sweet cream cubes to fill the pitchers, I used ALL whipping cream, like instead of adding the 2% milk, I doubled the whipping cream because I forgot (I started last week). I’m stressing out bc my shift supervisor is an actual horrible human being and on a power trip and talks to me like I’m worthless and i can tell she is looking for a reason to get me in trouble. Do you thinks she’s going to realize?? 😩😩
