green bean here
i had a stressful shift today
was literally on the verge of crying on spot
ik that’s generic but im scared if i include details my store ppl will know exactly who im
im a student and i just wanted something part time to self fund. and now suddenly it just feels too demanding. like my time isn’t being respected. i really don’t think i can keep up if my studies suffer.
and then since im new idk whom to talk to about this either at my store. i felt really lonely today. usually i love being cheerful and bringing positivit everywhere but today i felt like my heart was just numb. and im an hsp (if anyone gets that) and I DONT KNOW HOW WILL I HANDLE CLASSES AND THIS
im usually asleep by now but rn i feel so stressed from what happened hours ago that i cant sleep and im still numb from holding back tears earlier and this is just like
really overwhelming
im not talking about the learning part being too overwhelming, its just dealing with boundaries feels so overwhelming
i don’t want to work extra hours. i don’t care about earning too much. im just trying to fund my own personal expenses.
my manager just snapped at me today. i didnt like the tone i was talked in.
i took up this job because i like interacting with ppl. and so far all the customers have been so nice. same for partners around me. the problem is long hours. that’s not what i want, neither what i need. and that’s what they’re pushing me to do. and i just hate that
so yeah, just need a hug
how do yall survive
edit: added a bunch of stuff to post. earlier i was so frozen up that i couldn’t write a lot.
I'm so tired of customers acting like we are the bad guys for not breaking policy for them.
"But the other starbucks does it." I'm glad they are willing to put their job on the line for you. I'm not willing to just because someone made you a trenta frappe the one time. Or they sold you sealed sandwiches. Or whatever else we aren't supposed to but the other store didn't care.
Literally had to deal with a woman who held up my line at the register while she called corporate on me. And now my CL wants to talk to me about Green Apron Service for following standards? Like WTF?
I am actively having a crazy explosive diarrhea at work rn... I'm supposed to be here for 3 more hours, and no one can come in/haven't responded...
Opened this morning, and the best playlist is back!!!!! WE DE BEST MUSIC!!!!!
Somebody at Josiah’s (highly modified TikTok drink pusher) store needs to start talking about their wages and what Starbucks is paying him (around $80k or more) to keep positive brand relations (to overlook the company’s union busting labor law violations, slave-like conditions found in Brazil supply chain, condemning Starbucks Workers United’s support for Palestine signed off in a letter, etc.) versus the regular Starbucks worker with a 1600 times removed pay gap from our CEO Brian Niccol and to organize https://sbworkersunited.org/take-action/
Hiya. So I was a partner when Frappuccino came out till around 05. I was a hairdresser and because of life I need health insurance so I’m back. (I’m in my mid 40’s)
It’s amazing on how much I remember that’s still relevant and how much work there is with an IPad. I’m so used to being my own boss and being at the top of my field and now I’m a barista and being trained by a gal my son’s age. It’s humbling and also kind of awesome that I get to stop and learn again. Anyone else do this? Or having a mid life start over?
2 great things. The store I work out of is soooo beautiful and clean. And my coworkers are really lovely. Supportive and helpful. The store I worked at years ago wasn’t like this.
I don’t want to work here anymore. Help. 😔
I’ve been a barista at this store for a year and 5 months and i’ve made such a great standing here!! super close with my coworkers, even got voted for being the store’s next shift and trainer, no warnings on my record, and have no complaints from customers. until today.
This lady was the last one in our drive through and i greeted her as usual and started to start up the card reader for her and held it out the window. I didn’t realize she was SO far away, and she was getting upset that she couldn’t react the card reader. so i apologized and basically had half my body outside to hand it to her. but she proceeds to SNATCH the whole thing from me and yank it into her car(which to put in perspective, she snatched it so hard she literally pulled me forward), and the cord pulled taut and she gave me a dirty look like I did something??(i’m pretty sure she 100% thought i snatched it back) So like i immediately got frazzled because .. what’s her issue😭so after she pays i thank her and let her know her drink will be right out and i RUSH away and ask my coworker could she give the drink out because she genuinely like made me feel uncomfortable.
And after she does that, she tells me the customer asked for my name (even though i have it embroidered on my apron), but my coworker told her SHE DOESNT KNOW MY NAME. she basically just freaked out because the customer was yelling at her and didn’t know if it was allowed for her to give out my name. And then the lady storms inside the store and at this point the shift tells us to go in the back and she’ll defend us. This lady calls me HOSTILE and agressive, and accuses my coworker of spitting in her drink. And my shift does everything she can, even remade her drink and it was waaaay after close at this point. But this lady is so intent on reporting me.
Which is a problem because we have no Sm or Asm. we only have a temp and since i’ve never even met her myself yet, i’m scared she’s just going to do no investigation and write me up.. AHHHH WHAT DO I DO
TLDR; customer was hostile towards me, but calls me the hostile one(she was displaying physical aggression). and she’s planning to report me to our temporary sm, who i think is going to write me up no matter what i do. this is just such a weird and messed up situation and im nervous..!!!!
Applied for a barista position at a store near me and got this rejection email about a week later (screenshot attached). It says I “do not meet one or more of the basic requirements.”
I’m confused because I meet the obvious stuff (age, work eligibility, etc). Has anyone else gotten this exact wording? Since it took a week instead of being instant, does that mean an actual person looked at it, or is this still just an automated rejection?
Also open to advice — should I try applying to a different location, or go in person and talk to a manager instead?
I'm currently an ASM and the SM I work for has a very bad habit of retroactively writing partners up for things that happened a full month or more prior. For example, she recently wrote a SSV up last week for missing a temp log back in the second week of July. It was their first and only time missing a temp log too. I'm just curious to know in general if there's a specific time frame that write ups have to be given within as I don't remember seeing one listed anywhere when completing my training. While I fully agree that if things like temp logs are being missed then obviously accountability should take place, but a BIG part of me finds it extremely messed up that she waits as long as she does to the point that once she finally goes to give the write up, 95% of the time the partner can't even remember the specific details so they just sign and accept it, even when they have a strong argument to appeal it, bc at that point they don't remember the specifics of what happened to properly argue it.
What she typically does is have a conversation with the partner the same week it happened, sometimes she tells them that accountability measures will take place, other times she leaves them hanging in a limbo, then about 3-4 weeks later she finally gets around to giving them the official documentation/write up. Idk, to me personally, if we're going to be giving them the write up, we should be doing it ASAP, rather than leaving them to think nothing will actually happen, thinking that the conversation already had WAS the accountability, or waiting so long that by the time we give it to them, everyone has forgotten specifics and now they can't rightfully appeal the documentation. I'm just curious to know if this is just kinda fucked up on principle but still allowed or if there's actually something she's doing wrong through policies by going about it this way?
anybody else confused about the fall launch?? on sirens eye it shows the cool lime refresher, mini pies, sugar cookies, belgian waffles and mini pancakes. this is for a US store btw. but none of this stuff has been announced or shipped yet. i know Canada has cool lime but is the US getting it this fall??? someone please help me
So story time. Tech comes to fix vertica, a coworker, we’ll call him Benny, is on drive making small talk with tech. Benny asks if tech can change the vertica lights color since he saw it on social media. I’m off to the side waiting for my drink before I go on my 30. Tech is like yeah I can here’s how, and starts messing with the settings. So I’m all like hey what’s changing the vertica lights mean? And he asks me to pick a color, so I’m like pink. Then he says yeah I can change it to pink and starts playing with it. I tell him hey I’m not sure if you should. My SSV comes up and hands me my drinks and starts talking to the tech. Another partner is in the back and he’s like umm are they really changing the lights? And I tell him that I’m not sure but I didn’t really want any part in that.
Anyways I come back from my break and the vertica lights are pink. The tech is gone, the SSV is pissed. She tells me not to talk to the techs anymore because now she’s going to have to answer to the SM and she’ll get in trouble. Has anyone else been in this situation? Am I cooked?
7 year partner. Fired today for taking home blueberries that were expiring that day. I’m devestated. I’m 53 years old and have many health issues.i don’t know what’s going to happen when I lose my insurance.
I’ll start.
“Your iced triple shot espresso over ice with all these syrups, LIGHT ice, EXTRA SPLASH of milk and EXTRA Foam in a venti cup does NOT automatically mean you’ll get your drink filled up to the top!
By standard your “extra splash of milk” is technically a pup cup filled up with milk. There. There’s your extra. So when we’re following the standard. There’s not reason to yell at the staff.
Be normal and order a iced late. Thank you”
What’s yours?
that is all.
job recommendations are welcome
🥳🥳🥳
Anyone else notice like 90% of the time someone wants a latte with nonfat milk, they almost ALWAYS also request extra hot with no foam? 😂😂 who are these niche humans and why do they always order their lattes the same exact way?! Just a funny observation 🥴🤷♀️
I just quit I only worked there 6 months and they gave me a horrible schedule so I decided I had enough I QUIT and I got my nails done to celebrate
