Anyone who follows a religion that believes is based on a book of divine knowledge but doesn’t read the book should be considered an atheist

It’s always bugged me that so many religious people will make some assertion about others using their holy book yet they never really read the whole book. If you’re literate how hard is it to just sit there and read a whole book? Especially when you consider that the punishment for not following the book is endless torture. If someone told me (and I believed them) that there was a book that I had to read or sometime in the next 40 years someone would randomly bash my balls in with a hammer I would read it immediately. Yet you have devoted religious people pushing their beliefs on others who don’t know anything about their scripture. They live their whole lives basically living like atheists with a few superficial modifications. They basically use religious symbols as gang signs to bully the rest of society. Everyone should be assumed to be an atheist until proven otherwise. I would go as far to say there should be a certificate you have to earn to prove you know enough to belong to a religious organization.

People that choose blue in the button pushing hypothetical are like people who stop at the stop sign first yet wave others on

Individual incentives should be applied but they just need to feel moral. In the end they just make things worse.

You are at a basketball game with 30,000 people. At half time a man pushes a cart full of pills and a safe. The man gets on the microphone and explains that he just took one of the pills which is filled with poison. He further elaborates that the safe contains the antidote and only he knows the combination. If 50 percent of the crowd takes the poison he will give everyone who took the poison the antidote. He then starts berating the crowd for being selfish for not taking the poison to save him. One person from the crowd takes the poison then begins calling everyone selfish and immoral. Parents with kids make the decision for their kids and no one can make a mistake. You can trust the man and there are no long term consequences if the antidote is taken. The antidote can be taken within six hours. What do you do? Comment if having kids or the amount of people who have taken the poison changes your answer.
