The 4th is great example of how and why Americans are selfish.
Every Fourth of July people set off fireworks late into the night. It’s bad for the environment, a risk to neighboring properties, AND it means lots of folks are having PTSD flashbacks or dealing with pets that are panicking.
Instead of being considerate of those around them by not setting off fireworks, limiting it to certain hours, stopping when people want to go bed, etc. everyone else just has to accept that the firework shooting neighbors good time is more important than 1. Veterans 2. Refugees 3. Sleeping babies and their sleep deprived parents. 4. Panicking pets 5. People who have pets that are cleaning up vomit or pee or have their pet die after they flee from the noise. The people who don’t like the fireworks are seen as killjoys rather than people being really negatively impacted by the actions of others that aren’t necessary!
Go see the fireworks that your town sets off, and leave your neighbors out of your drunken shenanigans with pyrotechnics.
