Outlast 3 should have a more Clear story.
Dont get me wrong, i love how outlast leaves somethings vague and its up to us piece things together. The problem i'm talking about has more to do with the in-game storytelling itself
Something i've noticed for over 10 years of watching people play outlast (in more then 3 languages) is that a solid 90% of players end these games not really knowing anything about what they just played. And i don't mean how the morphogenic engine works or the inner workings of the pseudo science - those things can be left to us scavangers. I mean basic story elements like what/who the walrider is (Wernicks endgame exposition comes off as too much too late) What Murkoff was doing in Mount Massive, names of the characters who follow you through the game like Chris, and more worringly, the entire freaking narrative of Outlast 2 besides jessica.
I think a big reason for that is the fact crucial plot elements (Billy's backstory, The engines effect on women) is mixed in with walls of medical speak text about pacient 091809 dreaming about cheese, or how little mary in temple gate killed a goat. Again i like those things, but it confuses most people.
