outlast 1 is such a different game then i thought it was after beating it on insane

So ive followed outlast all my life, its basically my fnaf, people had markiplier fnaf growing up, i had outlast pewdiepie

this game always seemed so long and grueling a constant assault, never ending series of chases

i replayed it, taking my time, soaking up the atmosphere (actually removed the music so i just got the raw experience, that ALSO changes the game immensely, outlast with no music is TERRIFYING you never know when youre being chased, you got nothing but your heart beat and foot steps and inmates yelling its awesome, if anyone's interested in how i'll reply to your comment with the steps its super simple) and after replaying 1 and whistleblower, i still had that outlast itch, threw myself into an insane run on a whim tonight, and luckily remembered how to do most of the sequences and others i improvised well on, and actually beat it (hell yeah)

but i realized something, this game has so much down time, and its actually pretty snappy, most sequences can be finished in like 5 mins if you run them right, huge characters like Traiger who felt like massive sections, just 15 or so minutes, its insane how fast you can run this game, and i wasn't even speed running, i just had a route, and understood the ai, a few sequences are actually wayyy easy if you just blitz them

its just so interesting how this game felt so big, like a 9 hour campaign that takes several sittings, and i somehow just ran through the whole thing in one sitting (idk what time, but didn't feel too crazy)

not really much point to this post, i just love outlast, and im really happy i got this achievement to a game that means so much to me, might even give whistleblower a go, tho im less confident when it comes to the cannibal, he has some mean sections

feel free to share any stories or thoughts, outlast is seriously the best

The thing I hate most about Outlast 2, why didn't Blake reported father Loutermilch as an adult?

So we know for a fact that father Loutermilch sexually abused a young girl and murdered her by pushing her down the stair. Blake saw it and he was likely forced into silence by father Loutermilch with probably threats of death. The only thing that doesn't make sense is, why didn't Blake reported father Loutermilch to the police now that he is an adult and likely didn't get pass that trauma. All of this just makes him looks like a pathetic coward imo. In the end, he let Loutermilch gets away with his crimes.

After completing the dlc I have to say, It was Beautiful!

Finally got the balls to complete it and got hooked again, sat for 2 hours straight to complete it. I even started taking ss later into the game but man this game was fucking stunning and beautiful.

Also loved the fact that both Gluskin and Jeremy Blair got fucking killed lol.

Outlast 3 isn't Red Barrels' next game

I came across this Q&A on YouTube. Philippe Morin confirmed that a small part of the team is working on an unannounced new game title. He also said they don't want Red Barrels to be known only for horror. So their next game probably won't be Outlast or even a horror game.

Host: Is Outlast 3 in development, or do you plan a complete pivot to make entirely different genres of games?

----

Philippe Morin: We’ve shifted to a dual parallel project pipeline for the first time. Our majority team continues building seasonal content for The Outlast Trials, while a small core group works on pre-production and concept development for a fully unannounced new title. I won’t share any extra details on that unannounced project, so we’ll keep the suspense alive for now.

After wrapping Outlast 2, we were completely burnt out and fully planned to pivot to something entirely unrelated. The two original single-player games were a grueling marathon. But after a few months of rest and creative reset, we landed on the concept for The Outlast Trials. It lets us deepen the Outlast IP while challenging us with the brand-new multiplayer format.

As for the next unannounced game we’re drafting, we refuse to box our studio in as a “horror-only developer.” The beauty of being independent is that we’re not obligated to lock ourselves into rigid five or ten-year corporate roadmaps — we have complete creative flexibility.

Farming Cosmetics

Is there any efficient way to farm cosmetics? I've been trying to get the police pants with handcuffs forever ago. I'm at 130 trials completed, and I've seen that getting A+ apparently gives a second cosmetic, but that has yet to happen despite multiple A+ attempts. So, I'm just lost on what's the best way to farm them.
