Okay, I know how it sounds, but until recently, I thought Outlast 2 had a jumpscare involving Chris Walker. For some reason, a memory stuck in my mind that made me think Outlast 2 had Chris Walker. I literally remember it perfectly — there would be shelves in one of the houses, lots of shelves, and when Blake walked past one, Chris would scare him and then disappear. And in my memory, Chris seemed more detailed than in the first game. funny situation.
Don't get me wrong. I absolutely LOVE Outlast I, but I just genuinely can't wrap my mind around anyone thinking the STORY of Outlast I is better than Outlast II.
In Outlast I the story is this; You are a journalist, and you have to read letters to find out about past scientific expirements. Cool. Not much of a story.
In Outlast II; You crash in a desolate area, leading to your wife being kidnapped. As you explore the cursed cult-like environment, gradually it's revealed what happened in your childhood. As your mind literally starts being affected by the trauma, religious psychosis, cult, and signals, your entire reality starts warping to your childhood trauma, ending with one of the tightest symbolic concluding sequences I have literally ever seen.
Can ANYBODY tell me how people actually think Outlast I is a better game than Outlast II?
I hope some of you find it useful 🥸
Hey everyone,
I recently beat Outlast 1 again and missed that narrow, claustrophobic vibe. I came up with a concept for Outlast 3 that brings back that exact feeling but with a fresh setting and connection to the lore. Let me know what you think!
🏨 The Setting: Saint Mercy Hotel
Isolated during a storm with no cell service. It’s strictly split into two parts:
Wing 1: A normal, creepy hotel for everyday guests.
Wing 2: A hidden, high-security Murkoff facility hiding traumatized "Reagents" from The Outlast Trials.
👤 Protagonist & Intro
You play as Travis Bell, a young adult on a business trip. After checking into Wing 1, a few test subjects breach the security. Travis is ambushed in his room, chained up, and almost killed by a psychotic guest called "The Purger".
🏃 The Escape into the Trap
Travis breaks free and panics. Since the main exit is blocked, he flees into Wing 2, thinking the heavy security doors of the guards will keep him safe. It's a fatal mistake. The doors slam shut, and he traps himself inside the epicenter of madness. This is where the main game begins.
🩸 The Villains
The Purger: The stalker from the intro who continues to hunt you.
Richard Crow: The former hotel owner and a psychotic perfectionist.
Bill Parker: The former hotel security guard, now a brutal killer.
"The Guests": A dangerous faction of crazy test subjects controlling Wing 2.
Concept and characters created by me!!
Program Details
The people’s voice must be heard! Be the heart, face and soul of your community to guide the city through the mire of ideological rivalry and into a brighter future. Free yourself from the follower’s employment and become a figurehead with the public sway of gods. Only you can control whether the people choose you, or choose themselves.
Shuttle Hallucinations (Main Trial)
You see visions of Coyle and the Kress Twins arguing intercut with a masked woman in a suit touching and sniffing a child mannequin. You also see piles of corpses with keycards shoved into their viscera, a reagent getting abused by Coyle through a metal fence, and the Kresses giving a speech on a podium in front of a horde of mannequins. The hallucinations culminate in the suited woman ripping open her belly and strangling you with her intestines.
Main Trial: WIN THE ELECTION
“You are the destined leader. Choice is the narrowed path laid before the clueless mob, whom you ferry across the murky grey waters of nuance. The wrong choice is obvious. Uniform the people’s vote. Debase, defeat, and kill the candidate who would bring ruin to us. And we will let you out.”

Shuttle Hallucinations (MK-Challenges)
You see visions of Coyle getting a blowjob from a mannequin interrupted by the Kress twins emerging out of a cloud of poison to attack you. You also see a man swiping a keycard on a huge cut across his eye sockets, as well as Coyle throwing a corpse out of an apartment, and you see yourself across the shuttle being held down by mannequins before a big grunt with an axe swings down on you. The hallucinations end with a crowd of mannequins praising you before Arora’s hand bursts out of your sternum and reaches to grab your face.
MK: TARNISH THE IMAGE
“You are enlightenment, the courier who brings truth to the deceived and the ignorant. Deliver the policeman’s shame to the populous. Tarnish the image of their protector. And we will let you out.”
MK: FALSIFY THE LEGISLATION
“You are the stimulant when justice is unable to perform. Politicians put laws in place as to control the common people and to shorten our reach. Edit the legislator’s creed. Manifest due punishment for the half-crime and kill the political pawn. Only then, will we let you out.”
MK: CIRCUMVENT THE CURFEW
“Taboo is based on unfamiliarity, which itself is begotten by rareness. The enforcers confine your capabilities because you are weak and alone. Flush out the community. Dissolve yourself within herd immunity. And no law will be able to contain you.”
MK: FOSTER THE FEAR OF DEATH
“You are the peacekeeper. While others may turn their head, you peer into the eyes of a murderer and reveal its truth to the snivelling throng. Keep the peace. Keep the people afraid and compliant. And we will let you out.”
MK: DISTURB THE CRIME SCENE
“A clean history provides the groundwork for supremacy. You cannot allow the populous to discover your sins. If they do, you will burn on the pyre of their justice. Cross-contaminate the evidence. Cover your tracks. Escape punishment. And let yourself go.”
I finished Outlast 1 yesterday and just now, just finished the Whistleblower DLC. It's an amazing experience. The sickness was brought to a whole new level.
Now I just need to learn how to do backgrounds
Regarding the post the other day I did see some comments where people were saying they hope 3 is the last and Murkoff gets what they deserve. While yes I agree with that I hope 3 is not the last game maybe it could be less about murkoff and go in different directions while still focusing on the horror aspect or even diving into more story lines from the comics or in game files. I think it’d be cool to have a game that takes place in Europe some where. A game where something is going on in the Vatican with some demonic tones I think would provide some exhilarating game play.
It’s at the beginning of liquidate the union. I never have seen anyone post about this or ask.
Maybe it’s absolutely nothing. But the fact that you can click numbers and there’s a door makes me think something is there.
When I start the trials - no one ever tries or acknowledges it which makes me think it’s nothing.
Hi, everyone! The time has finally come for the new Dual Environment to be released.
Dual Environments: Trial Environments dominated by two Prime Assets. So either one, the other, or both could appear in Trial. Both Prime Assets contain Prime Asset traps, and even Prime Time voicelines appear here. (Speaking of Prime Time. If there is a Prime Time variator for such an Environment, a 3rd Prime Asset will appear).
Previous Dual Environment:
The Warehouse has two main sections:
Reasons for the connection:
>"Do you have friends? How would you feel if they left you behind one day? It would hurt. The pain would be unbearable. The very people you would have entrusted your life to would leave you. Tell the Blind Man the truth. Tell him how a friend became an enemy, and we will let you out."

And this is Gooseberry and Liliya's Warehouse. What do you think? In the next “episode”, there won't be a new Environment; instead, I'll be giving the Big Cinema and the Warehouse three Mk-Challenges each. Thank you for reading!

“The children of wealth are parasites, maggots that have burrowed beneath the flesh of economy to feed on its necrotic blood. If those inbred monsters are to flourish into inheritance, then our capital will be subject to their whims. Abduct the heirs. Grind them to mulch. And we will let you out.”
