With the toronto sports card expo coming up in 1 month, I thought I might show off my wares.

The last showing, saw more ufc enter the general market. Loose cards appearing at tables that were once dominated by hockey or basketball. There are plenty of deals to be had, but be careful. CBOOM CARDS has been the only dedicated ufc vendor at this event, for 5 years straight. We have everything you need, to join the wave, before it gets too big/expensive to join.

We complain this and that about topps, but panini, is once again, proving how much worse things could be.

I ordered half a case of pfl hobby boxes. They charged me 40 bucks for shipping. But now I am responsible for a customs broker, for an additional 100 bucks plus tax. That brings my total shipping to 140 + 13% tax... around 160...

Thats absurd. I could buy it off ebay scalpers for less. I have purchase more expensive, larger, items, without requiring to pay for a customs broker.

UPS won't dismiss the charge. Says to call Panini.

Their online sales phone # is a loop "press 2". Their email system is generic and scripted. There is no way to escalate.

I am going to argue the charges with my bank if they do not resolve.

I am done 100% with Panini. Doesn't matter the product or potential. Such a large company, lacking such obvious basics. I can't in good conscious, continue to give them business.

Got these coins this week in the wild. Tim Hortons at work, corner store, dollarama, metro, Costco and walmart. Pay cash people!

The bad guy, the gangster, the loudest mouth in the room. Chael Sonnen rookie card. The beginning of epic fights.

Just got his rookie card. Literally the next day, arrested... still a legend.

Ufc Cardfather basically held an auction for his top cards. Him and a couple others used golden, for a huge combat sports themed lot style auction. As the picture shows, straight from his instagram. The new highest selling ufc card. But what do we think? Is it low? High? How about the other items like the brock lesnar lot or Rousey rookie autos? The Jones?

Whats the general take and how do we think this affects the market going forward?

My take. Its low. I expected a lot higher. I do not believe this auction got the attention it needed. That mcgregor is arguably, one of the biggest cards in the sport and will always be. I thought a half million would not be unrealistic. This auction fell short of expectation. Regardlesss of the prices, these are still good deals. - it needed to be higher, to show off the value. This is good for buyers and not so good for sellers. Maybe a slower growth than expected.

I asked for 1000 subscribers for our Instagram page. Thank you for helping reach that goal so quickly. I will be doing a live rip tonight before the ufc whitehouse event. Soccer, pokemon and of course, ufc. Jump in, comment, and again, thank you.

My 2 cents --- Goldin is having a massive combat sports auction. Specifically being carried by UFC nukes. They have their own category on the main page.

Props to box alarm and his video. I just feel he stops short of true market potential.

CARDS ARE NOT MINE

Conor 1/1 rookie auto, Rhonda 1st auto, 1/1 trip auto (Jones gsp anderson). Royce 2009 autos, cyborg, ilia... Multiple other massive cards. There is a splash of solid boxing and some memorabilia like shorts and gloves too. But this could be absolutely massive for the hobby.

Goldin has a reputation for rich people. By advertising on their home page, they are pushing hard, to the $ market. It is attracting big cash buyers. When big money starts spending, the price of everything goes up, as everyone wants a taste, even the lower end cards catch potential.

(Conor 1/1 auto) With a high end of 1 million and low of 100k that honestly, makes this an easy 4-500k. And the money stops being about the card, at 250k, it becomes investor potential and market control. Thats when multi-millionaires spend. They see market potential at a max 1 million on this card, today, but they have the capital to move a small market. So long as they get everything. A whale here, could easily force the markets hand and have gains on anything purchased, at any price. The massive ilia sale, bumped the whole market, imagine a couple Conor rookies, Jones... an opportunity to scoop them all at once, is a once in a lifetime opportunity. It gives them the "all" in 1 swoop. There are no cards, that are, or potentially will ever be more in demand. With a higher market value.... And thats kinda our best hope.

Most of us, won't be able to afford these nukes. Myself included. But if they sell high enough, to attract other big money spenders, the remainder of our cards will see a price increase as the demand goes up. Everyone wants a taste.

We have 18 days left, until the auction ends. If it does well, the price of ufc cards will begin an upward value spike, immediately. So if you have your eyes on any card right now. Buy it. Before the auction ends.

I will be holding my collection tightly until I see the results, possibly until the November card show. To those that invested their time, money and love into this sport, this hobby, this entire sub really, congrats.

There are a lot of stars that fly under the radar as fights approach/pass. Some huge names that seem to not get the attention. So I would like to go letter by letter, to see who the most valuable ufc alphabet would be. Both today and as a hold. Starting with A...

The most valuable today, I think, alex pereira. However I think, long term, Alexander Volkanovski is a better value. Crazy record, the way he fights. While people talk big with poatan, they don't put him in the goat conversation, some people do with Volk. Me included.

Thats my opinion, whats yours?

As many people know, I am all about the autos. However, came across this banger in a purchase/trade. Looking to move into some Carlos Prates autos. So this guy is for sale/trade CANADA ONLY. Asking 1100 $CAD, secure shipping with tracking # included.

Tomorrow is the live release of midnight. It actually looks cool with glove relics to 8. Those rubies are schweet. However there are a lot of stickers, which is unexpected for a premium box. To make matters worse, knockout has its presale only 4 days later. A more affordable box, with primarily on-card autos and even dual auto booklets.

When people say there are too many sets, this is what they mean. Within days of a release, a new product is pre-released. There isn't even enough time for hype to build on the hits. Full odds aren't even available. Yet it still sells out instantly. I feel like I'm a pig being led to a trough. Don't eat the oats brother.

I feel this kills the appeal of opening a box. Its a gamble, but the hit is already dying down, before you get it. The only way to even try, is through breakers. Which is gambling through a 3rd party, for said dying hits.

As a gambler, I need my prize to hold value, to entice me. As a collector and fan, I want the cards.

What are people generally doing? Buying one, both, neither, breaks, singles after the fact, mix?

This is just my perspective. I'dlove the communities input. this is indifferent of the fighter. Imagine its a conor/max/ilia or vitor petrino/cm punk etc. Besudes stats, what actually makes their cards valuable? A good long term hold? Not all cards are created the same and I think there are signs to indicate it.

1 - autographs. Autographs are the premium in this hobby. They add the highest value and retain it best. To this point, numbered cards can quickly become swamped, inserts become muddled. In an era like we have right now. Anything higher than /50, would be almost insignificant in price hold. This has become a popular consensus and I agree. However, an autograph remains valuable, regardless. It is always desirable, preferred. It demand value, and it gets it.

2 - vintage. Early cards are harder to get a hold of and fetch a better price. A Dom Cruz from his early years can be worth 3x his recent years. While one can argue that its a lack of volume in early ufc cards, it could also be argued, thats how vintage works/those are historic years/these are living legends. Especially if they are still fighting.

3 - complete sets. This one is kinda fun for those that rip. Base cards are worth 0. But complete base sets can be worth a few bucks. This is where you can use your # cards, parallels etc. To complete a set. Call it an enhanced set. You can turn those lesser cards into super solid collector value. - take this 1 step further, do a master set (all inserts and base). This is fairly cheap to complete (base and inserts are cheap) and can quickly be worth a lot. It gives more meaning to the numbered card and the base. Especially if its a long term hold. Complete sets are a historical documentation of ufc and the era itself. Thus will be very likely to rise in value. Again, especially if you have sets from multiple years. It paints a picture worth more than the paint.

4 - graded cards? - I don't believe cards need to be graded, if property taken care of. I do not trust or often agree with their opinion and don't care for the systems in place. However, i recognize the value. In a long term hold, a 10 from wherever will hold value better than raw. This is especially true for modern cards, where there are numerous sets. Vintage, not so much. The point of grading is to increase rarity, vintage is already rare enough.

There are always exceptions like certain ssp (kaboom amd downtown) however, most ssp are just glorified inserts.

I know its a ufc sub, but this is some ufc, wrestling, pfl etc. It was massive. 3 combat anthology hobby boxes. Bought from M4 in hamilton. --- Hogan insert auto /10, riddle insert /5, tim Sylvia insert auto /5, goodridge auto /99, Nakajima auto /99, Pedro rizzo unnumbered auto and a pfl guy auto. Several /25 including a Mike Tyson. Feeling lucky. Opening a PFL hobby box and Pokémon prismatic etb next. I'll post the hits in the morning if there is interest.
