[DIY] From Junk to Whimsy - Popsicle Stick 12S Dual Hub Electric skateboard

Last weekend I picked up a dead WowGo 2S Max off FB marketplace for $40. It turned out to just be a simple issue with the battery. It only gave off half the expected voltage (~22v) and my multimeter detected all the cells were ~3.5-3.7v, so all the cell sub-arrays were also good.I looked around under all the Fish Paper and fiberglass insulators and found some of the cheap nickel-plated steel tabs on the batteries rusting out causing it the battery to reduce down to 2x 6S2P arrays instead of a singular 12S2P. I was able to fix it with less than $1 worth of materials.

I filed away the corrosion and solder on additional nickel tabs to reconnect the battery and the skateboard came back to life! Seeing as I already had another longboard, I decided to use the parts as a donor for a deck I got for $8 on one of the Prime Days. It's a 7.75" x 31" bamboo deck. To accommodate the limited real estate of 14" wheelbase, I had to 3D-modeled some risers, a tail bone and a new battery compartment and printed it in PETG - drilled some holes and attached everything. I cut up an EVA foam floor mats to act as a layer of minor water resistance and give the electronics a bit of cushioning. While modeling the replacement battery compartment, I carved out a small AirTag compartment for peace of mind. Then I decided to stick with the popsicle theme and make it into a Cherry Lemonade Popsicle using the deck tape I had on hand. It's not perfect, as the screws are sticking out a bit more than I'd like, but overall it's my little monstrosity and I like it.

For a build with substantially shorter wheelbase than the original board, it still rides pretty well and can't complain at under $80 for the total build. I may start using this as my daily driver for my work commute as it's far more compact that my longboard and is more easily carried onto the public transit leg of my journey.

Help Identifying New ESkate

Just got a killer deal on this board - fully functional with remote and charger. Comes stock with 105mm CloudWheels Discovery that seem to be in fairly decent condition. All for just $30 off FB Marketplace. Seems like it’s been sitting around unused for a while as there is some cobwebs galore in the wheels, so I’m not sure the condition of the battery. It needs some TLC to remove some of the rust and clean it up a bit in general, but for the price it can’t be beat.

Anyways, anyone have any idea what make and model this board is? Just curious since it appears to be fairly distinct with the tail having an integrated cutout for holding it. If you have any idea, let me know - thanks!

[WIP] To Be Named - Original reinterpretation of Kinesis Advantage 360

This is my new project, it’s based on a similar layout to the Kinesis Advantage 360 split Keyboard.

It is currently still a work in progress - it has low profile Gateron KS-33 Red switches, 2x toggle switches (side-to-side, and press functionality mapped as 3 additional keys), ec11 encoders and 28+7 key layout per side. ZMK firmware (still working on it) running on Pro Micro Nrf52840 powered by generic Nokia BL-5C batteries.

Leather wrapped wrist rest (underside printed in 5% infill TPU) that’s attached via magnets. Currently it’s only partially wired, but hoping to complete it within the next month.
