Boss lied. Best way to report?
My ED pulled me into a room and told me I would now be reporting into one oh his other VPs within his org. He explicitly said this is a firm-wide initiative where VPs who manage small teams are going to be collapsed into other VP teams. My team is small but I manage an entire business. No other VPs or teams work in my area. Anyway, I told him this feels like a demotion despite consistent ratings of S/S/O. Now any hope of promotion cannot happen until my new, less experienced VP, who manages a completely different team (no synergies), gets promoted. Every win for me will got my VP. He is stealing my thunder.
Anyway, fast forward 8 months; not one other team has been reshuffled the way my team has. I know a lot of people at JP. Nobody has heard of this. Other VOs they manage small teams have the same org chart before/after.
Clearly this was a lie. I’m so confused and so angry. I’m shut out of decision making. I’m one level removed from everything now.
I’ve been there 15+ years. Not one bad review. Not one complaint. I’ve been managing for 10 of those years. I need to go to HR. Do I use the hotline? Call HR?
