I’m going to be couch-bound after surgery, ESP32 Controller w/ Tessera

Video of screen in action

I have surgery coming up and I'm going to be pretty much couch-bound for the next week, so I figured I might as well make the couch a little more capable before then.

I mounted an 18" portable touch monitor on an adjustable arm and added a small ESP32 touchscreen running Tessera that's integrated with Home Assistant.

It's probably completely unnecessary, but that's generally how my Home Assistant projects start.

Still working on it, but pretty happy with how the couch command center turned out.

Big shout to Max, with the last days I've been playing with Tessera there have been multiple updates daily. Check him out and support if you are interested https://github.com/MaxGramser/homeassistant_espscreen

Simple ESP32 touchpads, my new hobby

video ESPHome touchpad in action

As much fun as it is building out pretty dashboards, sometimes it's just easier to have a simple dedicated touchpad for a room, was using lutron picos but wanted something with audio control as well. I'm still new to 3d printing but slowly dialing in the single gang mounts.

Just finished retro fitting the PoE Matter shades and couldn't be happier

Wife is very happy with the finished product. They are whisper quiet compared to other somfy shade motors we have in our bedroom. Integrating into Home Assistant was a breeze and the feedback % of the height the shades are at is great. Makes writing automations a walk in the park.

HDMI input into dashboard

Home Assistant + HDMI Matrix + HDMI Live Video

I build these simple HDMI video inputs into HA to help me troubleshoot remote systems. When clients are having video or control issues it helps being able to see what they are (or aren't) seeing. I have this one hooked up to a 4x4 matrix for multi video input using a single $10 usb dongle
