Is this allowed?

My opponent had a Heimerdinger and Glowstone, and said he could "give me" the heimerdinger?

He said because Heimerdinger was empowered by some other card he was allowed to do this???

I argued that such a dumb interaction should never exist in this game, but he said that I was wrong and that it was a legal play.

Anyways, then I just called him a slur and left.

I recently went to the Alanta regional qualifier as a spectator. Overall the event was a good experience and I had a nice time. But there are a couple things I think could be done better, especially with prizing.

1. Main Event Competitor Prizing

As it stands, it does not make any sense for anyone to participate as a competitor unless they have a serious shot at winning a best of legend or placing highly. Participating in the side events is way more lucrative for 95% of players.

I would really like to play in the main event, but why would I when I can do side events (which are also fun) and actually win prizing instead of playing in the main event and ending up with nothing.

A few ideas on better prizing:

  1. 1-2 tickets per win
    • If you go 5-3 day one, spending your entire day, you'll at least have something to show for it.
  2. Promos for top 64
    • Right now placing top 64 still wins you basically no prizing. Having unique promos would be really cool.
  3. Day 2 rewards
    • It would be great to have a reward for players for making day 2.
    • One idea is to give out textured foil versions for a legend's signature spell. The textured foiling in this game looks amazing, but there is currently no version of that for signature spells. This would be a neat way to introduce that. Also this would be another incentive to play more off meta legends since less copies of their spell would be given out making them more rare.

2. Feast or famine prizing

This also kind of ties in with the main event prizing but the side events also are affected by this.

My specific experience with this is with the Super Saturday Standard event. In this event if you placed top 128 (out of around 400 players) you won tickets, and if you placed any lower... nothing.

I managed to barely place top 128, but I can imagine how bad it would feel to spend your whole day on this event and barely miss out on prizing.

I think 1-2 tickets per win in events like this would go a long ways to help alleviate this.

3. Overtime

Games are still sometimes going 30 minutes into over time which is just annoying and makes the events drag out and tiring.

I know they have had rule changes but it is still not enough, something more should be done.

My proposal would be to have a hard cutoff at 20 minutes into overtime. If 20 minutes hits, and a game still has not finished (turn three has not completed) then both players get a game loss.

Right now players are incentivized to take as long as possible to think once overtime hits which is why it drags out forever. It should be easily possible for all players to finish three turns in twenty minutes.
