Are the ACA NEOGEO Fatal Fury ports on Switch legit/good? Or am I overthinking the HAMSTER publisher thing?

Hey all, random question from someone newer to the older Fatal Fury games.

I was looking at Garou: Mark of the Wolves and Real Bout Fatal Fury Special on the Nintendo Switch eShop, and noticed the publisher/developer listed is HAMSTER instead of SNK.

Maybe I’m just overthinking it, but at first glance it felt a little weird/sus to me and made me wonder if these are actually legit official ports or some kind of low-quality emulation release.

Have people here bought these ACA NEOGEO versions on Switch? If so:
- are they considered good ports?
- accurate emulation/input-wise?
- worth buying?

Just wanted to sanity check before grabbing them. Cheers.

Hey everyone, I am relatively new to properly getting into fighting games and was hoping to hear from people who actually play City of the Wolves.

Street Fighter 6 was the game that really pulled me into the genre. I started playing online around 2024 and since then I have been exploring older fighters through emulation. I especially love Street Fighter Alpha 3 and 3rd Strike. A lot of the older Fatal Fury games give me a very similar feeling mechanically.

Because SNK has such a long history going head to head with Street Fighter, I have been surprised to see how heavily discounted City of the Wolves already is. Right now in Australia the game plus Season Pass 1 and 2 is about $45 AUD, which honestly feels wild for such a recent fighting game, especially one that won Fighting Game of the Year.

Part of me feels genuinely curious and even a bit sympathetic toward what SNK is trying to do with the series, but I do not personally know anyone who plays Fatal Fury. I wanted to ask directly:

• What do you love about City of the Wolves?
• How does the game feel to play compared to other modern fighters?
• How healthy does the community or player base feel right now?
• Why do you think it is or is not catching on more widely?
• Would you recommend someone like me jump in at this point?

I am basically hoping to hear what makes people passionate about the game. Consider this an open invitation to try and sell me on it.
