Endoscopy Cost?

Hi! So I just recently had an appointment with a gastroenterologist to get an upper endoscopy done. I was quoted to pay $800 upfront before the endoscopy. I have insurance (Aetna) and this price just seems crazy to me. This is just to see what is wrong not even a solution you know. What have you guys been quoted or have paid to get an endoscopy done because this price seems very high for me. I live in the US specifically Ohio

Coffee Caused Flare Up?

So I had started getting gastritis symptoms May 1 and around May 24 I started getting better and could eat mostly whatever I want. From May 24 to June 10 I was fine and even started drinking Matcha as it wouldn't really have an affect on me. On Tuesday which was 4 days ago, I drank a coffee flavored protein shake which had 55mg of caffeine in it. This is the first time I have drunk anything with coffee since I started feeling absolutely terrible on May 1. A few hours after I drank it I started feeling absolutely terrible. It was like the first night of me getting sick all over again. These past few days I have been feeling a lot more nauseous than I did before I drank the coffee protein shake. I feel nauseous when I'm hungry and after I eat. Today after I got home from the gym I started feeling really nauseous. I am just so scared I have a trip coming up in 2 days and I thought I was finally better until I had that coffee protein shake a few days ago.

Now I just feel terrible all over again. Did anyone else experience this?

GI Doctor/ Specialist wait time?

So I just got referred to a GI specialist office and they told me the first appoint they could schedule me was April 15th 2027? Is this also the case for others who were looking to talk to GI specialists? Is there a way to speed up seeing a GI doctor?

Toenail Infection?

So I went to a concert on May 11 and I was wearing 2 socks plus tighter shoes. I did not realize but I think my toenails were at the point of needing to be cut. I have had problems with my big toes before where they were overgrown, but have not run into that issue in 2 years. After the concrete o noticed my toe nails had risen off the nail beds and there was clear odor-less fluid coming out of the bottom of the nails. I tried cutting down the nails and soaking them in water, drying them, and adding neosporin. I only did this like a few times though. They do not hurt but the imagine of the first toe where the white is on the toe nail, that part of the nail is separated from the bed. I’m just confused on what to do🧍‍♀️. Like they do not hurt but they kinda separated from the nail bed and there’s not really fluid there anymore. What do you think i should do?

Gastritis started 3 weeks ago

So May 1st is when I first felt the nausea and pressure in my upper abdomin and all of this started. That first week was the worst. I could not eat anything, I could not drive and I basically just sat on the couch the whole week and did not go to work. I would get these random flares throughout the day and basically just ate saltine crackers and rice the whole week. Lost like 5 pounds. After that week I started feeling better when taking Pepcid but Zofran did not help at all. I tried eating a burger and that caused me pain, but then I ate chipotle the next day (not crazy sauces or anything) and it did not hurt me like the burger did.

The 2nd and 3rd week I have been eating blander foods like rice, sushi, bananas, squash, cottage cheese, ricotta and coconut water and these have not had me in the pain like I did the first week. I have not had the pain and constant flare like I did the first week since that week. I have gotten better now compared to that first week, but I still am watching what I eat but I will have something "not okay" like cookie dough bites or rice crispy treats at night when I need something sweet and it doesn't hurt me like I felt the first week. I am so scared that if I eat something "bad" I'll go to how I feel like I did that first week.

I feel like the cause for me is taking a higher dosage of Zepbound for a few weeks or maybe drinking coffee and energy drinks on an empty stomach in the morning? I have not done either of those since this has started.

Tomorrow will mark a full 3 weeks since I have been going through this and I feel stomach pain a little nausea but is not unbearable. I stopped taking pepcid just to see how I feel without any medicine and I have a little but of acid reflux but it is not a whole mouth taste and I am not running to take tums or pepcid. I have nausea sometimes but it is more mild and does not stop me from doing things like it did the first week.

I wanted to hear others stories if it is similiar to this. I want to clarify, I have run tests and labs with my doctor and she did not find anything except that I showed I was a little inflamed in my blood test results. I have not met with a G/I specialist yet but I am currently getting a referral so I have not been officially diagnosed with Gastritis but my doctor is thinking it is this.

So currently there is a thermomix craze in the family friends around me and I was wondering if this also sounds familiar to others or there are people like this around them? Sellers of this product who are also family friends keep trying to convince my parents to buy it for close to $2000 and I’m like it seems insane. It’s starting to sounds like a pyramid scheme to me. Has anyone heard of this before?
