Katie, where’s your husband?

I'm hooked on Katie Price at the moment. One minute 'my Lee is missing' then 'why not buy a £10 lucky bag and maybe get this gorgeous jumpsuit' followed by
'Lee has been kidnapped and bundled into a van' finished with 'my anxiety is through the roof this week, but with the cobs oil I'm managing to relax!' Great time for a bit of marketing

Is this a scam?

So my sister in law is a V-tuber and she’s hosted two art contests across all her socials. One for Valentine’s Day and one for Christmas. Her requirements for both were for the art to be fully colored, full body (two bodies, one for her character and one for her hubby’s for valentines) and full background. For both she had offered the winner a $35 Amazon gift card. The losers received nothing.

For the first one on Christmas she had received 9 submissions. Me and a few other people who have done and received commissions worked together and set reasonable prices for each of the artworks and the total cost of all the submissions for this contest was $360. The winning piece we agreed would be worth around $65-$70 (as it was fully colored, full body and a completely hand drawn background with high visible skill.) The artist had mentioned when submitting it that it took them the entire week deadline to finish it. They were only paid $35.

For the second contest the rules and prize was the same. This time around she received 10 pieces all with considerably more skill involved than the last so the full price of all the art submitted was estimated to be around $740. The winning piece was worth around a whopping $110-$125, no doubt about it as it was fully colored, had a hand drawn background, had 1 full body, 2 full chibi bodies, and 7 bust drawings of her and her husband’s characters in the piece with HIGH skill involved. Again she only paid the winner $35.

She is still sharing and using ALL of the art from both contests to boost and advertise her V-tubing channel without compensating the artists involved and for the ones she DID compensate she didn’t do it adequately. She had a habit of doing this, using people for free labor (she had done the same to me with her wedding. I did 50 cupcakes, built the RSVP & invitation website, decorated 50 bubble wands and did her makeup because she had mentioned she would pay me. She didn’t even credit or pay me.) She’s even asking our brother in law to make her a furry tail as a favor, again, not discussing payment at all. I WOULD show you the art but this would effectively doxx both her and me and I don’t want her to start getting a wave of hate and I want to stay as incog as I can on this. Would you guys consider this a scam?

When sending or receiving money, Venmo never requires an email from the other person

If somebody tells you they need your email to send you money through Venmo, it is a scam.🙃

When I told him I hadn’t received a text from Venmo yet I magically received another text from a different random number🤔😂

PDF Home feels like a scam — hidden subscriptions after $1 PDF edit

I paid $1 to edit a PDF on PDF House, then closed the site. Later I found out I had apparently “accepted” a $39/month subscription.

Even worse, I was also charged or subscribed to another $39/month service called BetterCV, which I don’t even remember purchasing.

When I went back to PDF Home, there was no clear subscription page, no visible price, and no cancel button. To cancel, you have to contact customer support.

For BetterCV, I didn’t even seem to have an account.

This was extremely misleading, take care folks, scammers are everywhere.

Scammed after Instagram ad - PSA

Saw an ad on Instagram, moved the chat to WhatsApp, and paid them through Binance. (Is there way to get money back or report this?)

First he said there’s a delay, then he stopped responding and blocked me on WhatsApp. Posting this so others don’t get caught.

If you’ve dealt with the same account/handle, DM me. I won’t post their details here to follow sub rules.

Stay careful.

US. Everyone take care of this scam going around.

Got a call yesterday from what was supposed to be my bank. Said someone in Georgia was attempting to access my account I hung up on them and called my bank from the number on the back of my card. No such thing happened. Now I am told they can spoof the bank number on the back of your card. Everyone take care and give out no info go directly to your bank.

Healthcare Scammers Calling RELENTLESSLY

For months, the same group keeps lighting my phone up, not exaggerating, near 100 times per day. They ask if I have Medicaid or Medicare and after I dodge around their questions they just hang up. I asked who they work for and they just say The Do Not Call Registry. Does anyone mnow how to make this stop? They generate a new phone number each time so blocking the number doesn’t help.

I got a call from this number today who pretended to be from Chase Bank. What should i do?

They claimed they’re from Chase Bank, I qualified for xyz because of my credit and wanted my information(pure Indian Accent). I hung up. Who should i report this to? I’m an international student so i’m not familiar with how things work in the US. (Got to know this is very common in the US so i’ll not report it to the police)

Is this event staffing job offer a scam?

I applied for an events staffing company called NYE Staffing several months back. If I’m being honest, I can’t remember if I applied for this specific company but I know I applied for local events staffing companies, just can’t remember the names and couldn’t locate an application confirmation to cross reference.

On May 15th, I got an email of an interview invitation (photo 1 attached) for banquet servers for the FIFA World Cup here in Seattle next month. I responded and set up an interview. That same day, I got a text message to set up interview (2nd photo). The person I was corresponding with texted and called me from a NY phone number, and sent me a Google Meet link for the interview that took place today at noon.

The interview seemed normal, no red flags. She shared her screen to show me a little presentation about the company and the role. She sent me dates for shifts and told me that she would send me the onboarding paperwork. All normal.

I was sent a text from the same number as before (3rd photo). The red flag for me here is the direct deposit authorization form. It’s through FormStack, and doesn’t seem secure (https://nyestaffing.formstack.com/forms/directdeposit) I’m not savvy at stuff like this so I’m not sure if this is normal?

They created an account for me on Roosted HR (an app they use for scheduling and essentially a job board I can pick up gigs on). I used the temporary password they provided to login. This app looks legit. I attached a photo (4th and 5th photo) of the homepage of the app when I log in as well as the details provided for my first shift. The part that seems shady to me is that I am supposed to upload documents of my SSN, ID, and W9 within this app (6th photo). I was also sent an onboarding packet to fill out this same information through SignNow (7th photo).

Another important detail is that all emails are coming from what look like legitimate emails (ex: ashley@nyeventsny.com and support@roostedhr.com). When I googled the phone number I’ve been corresponding with, the first thing that comes up is the NY Events website. When the woman logged into Google Meet for our interview, an NYE monogram showed before her camera turned on, and she looked like a normal, well-adjusted individual! When we had technical issues, I called the phone number she texted me from and someone from “NY Events” picked up. The person who answered was not the same woman but told me she would let the woman I was speaking with that I called to let her know I was rejoining the video call.

What do you guys think? Am I being overly paranoid, or does this seem like a legitimate job offer? If you were me, what would you do?

(202) 413-1665 FCC "Allen Yang" Scam (?) Targeting Chinese Americans

This seems to be a Federal Communications Commission (FCC) scam targeting Chinese-speaking Americans. I don't, but my mom does, and they called me claiming that my mom (or someone with my mom's information) was in Xiamen, China and created a U.S. number (929) 319-4443 and was using it to scam Americans. The caller claimed to be "Allen Yang" (who does work for the FCC according to https://www.fcc.gov) but I don't think that's him. He seemed to expect that his victims would be Chinese-speaking because he insisted that I speak Chinese and his English didn't seem too good. This has all the signs of a scam, but he never did, said, or asked me to do anything that would get him money. If he was not in it for the money, what was the point of the scam?

Is this a scam?

Got this text. I didn't order anything. Memorial city isn't close to me. I looked at my accounts - I didn't purchase anything. The text itself seems fishy. Google said this is an Apple number but could be spoofed. What do you think?

Scammer alert

Be wary of people on discord coming to sell you tickets to concerts or any sort of events. Just got scammed out of 140$ by a guy called Grudthecreator, but he switched his name to Rerdd, hungredd after the fact. Please if you make these kind of transactions ask for their discord name and search it up on google with the word scam or something, I couldve avoided this if I wasnt dumb
