Is this a scam?

I keep getting these emails from an address that just says "Michele". I know Resurgent is a real company, but I don't recognize the debt amount and the account number stated in the email doesn't match my bank account. Has anyone gotten a similar email?

Should I be worried about this..? (Website mentioned www.wu.com)

I apologize if this subreddit isn’t the right place I don’t know where to post this and thought but this fit the best. so I received a message from someone who in short was asking for donations so they can get food and an education. Me being dumb and having a soft heart I messaged back asking what I could do.

After a harmless conversation he says he has a go fund me and this random donation website that I should donate on. Mind you im a minor and have no way to digitally donate so I politely said I couldn’t donate but could share the situation with others. After more talking he asks about name, and age. now am I absolutely dumb for telling him? yes. but that’s not the point.

Idk what was in me that night I was genuinely so stupid that I agreed to give him my WhatsApp. He proceeded to talk to me on WhatsApp more about the gofundme and asking me to donate which doesn’t seem that weird. I went to sleep and the next day I didn’t check my phone until pretty late because I was doing something. I notice I have a few messages from the same guy AND a missed VIDEO call. i was kinda scared cuz like… why?? I should also mention how the night before he sent a selfie of himself and asked me for a pic of my face and said “I want to see your beautiful face”. I obviously said no in the nicest way possible and he pushed a little but eventually let go.

I’m really not sure because it seems like he isnt too good at English so I’m wondering if he just worded things wrong or this is genuinely something weird happening. please don’t flame me for being dumb because I already know that 🤦‍♀️ genuinely what was I thinking.. as of now I’m just ignoring him completely.

This guy scammed out of 750 euro in person. I have sent a police report but is there anyway to find his real name?

Edited for additional detail and improved readability:
The person introduced himself as “Michael Wall” and claimed he was from Ireland. He said he was in Norway to watch a football match, but that someone had stolen his backpack containing his bank card.

He told me he could transfer money to me online, and then I would withdraw the same amount in cash for him. He sent me what appeared to be a payment receipt through WhatsApp. Based on that, I withdrew cash and gave it to him.

He may also have mentioned Amsterdam, but I am not certain about that detail.

His WhatsApp account did not have a profile picture. The photo I have of him was taken with my iPhone. It is cropped and was taken in portrait mode. He specifically asked whether I wanted to take a photo of him, to make me feel more reasured.

The details he provided were:

Name: Michael Wall
WhatsApp number: +44 7469263342

Buyer is claiming termite damage after buying a vintage dresser and taking it home, and I'm pretty sure they're trying to scam me, but I want to make sure I'm not missing something

*Tried posting on a marketplace sub which doesn't allow photos or links to photos for some asinine reason, so I'm posting here.

Google drive link for related images -

https://photos.app.goo.gl/aTYrD5QAcmfFH9nn9

The part that indicates that this is a scam to me is the fact that the pics they sent don't seem to match what I sold them whatsoever. The listing pics featured the full dresser, which sits FLUSH and FLAT on the ground as far as I can tell, along with interior shots of the drawers, which still had the green protective paper from the factory. This thing was *mint*.

The first pics he sent me along with his claim were super close and I can't even tell what I'm supposed to be looking at. When I told him to send me a shot from further away, as I see something else that doesn't look like it sits flush on the ground. I thought I was going crazy and looked at the full frontal shot from my listing and then the pic he sent me supposedly featuring the same dresser from underneath, and I don't see how they're the same. Mine was *flat* on the ground, and his image features multiple parts that are making me think wtf is this guy trying to pull.

This claim followed his second trip to our home to pick things up. The first trip they purchased a huge Armoire and a hope chest, both also vintage and in excellent condition. This second trip they purchased the dresser and two night stands. Everything solid oak or hard wood. All heavy as hell.

The whole time he insisted that all of this furniture was for his mother, who needed new furniture. But on the way out with the dresser, he wanted to look in other rooms and said "What about this room? What about in here or in there? Got anything else?"

He's CLEARLY a reseller and when I jokingly called him out on that, he seemed annoyed. I told him I didn't CARE if he was because he was doing me a favor clearing this stuff out for me and we were helping each other out, but he doubled down and insisted it was all for his mother.

I gave him extremely generous pricing for everything I sold. Way under market value, because we need things gone and some of these things are so heavy, usually you have to pay someone else to take it. So finding a buyer at any price felt like a win win. I sold the dresser for $150. It's vintage 60's and in excellent shape with only the original owner. I know it was worth more but we're clearing out a hoarder home and just want shit gone. So I figured I'd give him a deal be it for his mother or otherwise (I honestly don't care) and at least get something for it, and it would be one more thing out of the house. Even if his claim is somehow true, he got it for 90% off, if not more. And he claims it's all underneath, and he treated it. So problem solved IF it's true, right?

Lastly, he claims "a lot of termite droppings throughout the dresser". I looked through all the drawers. I included pics. I didn't see any droppings or signs of anything whatsoever. He saw it in person before he took it home. He didn't say anything when he was here.

I don't have much experience being gas lit, but my understanding of being gas lit is when someone tells you something you KNOW isn't true but they're so assertive about it, you start to wonder if you're crazy and missing something, and you start second guessing and doubting yourself.

So based on these details and the provided images, am I missing something? He didn't claim termite damage on any of the 4 other pieces. Just the dresser. The home has *never* had any issues with termites. Ever. It may be a hoarder home and it's a mess, but there's no termite damage.

He paid cash on pickup. There was no "contract" so to speak. My understanding is that everything sold on marketplace is "as-is". He looked at everything in person and was good enough with it to load it onto his truck and take it home. But now the "termite damage" is underneath where no one checked, with pics that don't look like they come even close to matching. But I just want to make sure I'm not nuts because I always try to see the best in people, as I try to be an optimist and glass half full kind of person when I can.

I did google this issue and there are results which indicate this *is* a common scam. But if it is, wouldn't he claim termite damage on everything? Or is he just claiming it only applies to the most expensive thing he purchased to make it seem more feasible?

Did I do the right thing with scam caller?

Got so fed up of these calls. I had one a day for the last week. Clearly scripted and some sort of scam.

So I decided to wind them up instead 😂

Grindr scam

Fucked up and gave my # to an account that over text threatened to send my pics to family and employer unless I sent $2000.

Blocked immediately, they messaged from another #, haven’t messaged since and it’s been ~15 min. Blocked that # too.

Anyone have experience with a scammer actually following through with their threat if you block them immediately? Ideally would like that to not happen.

Sorry if this isn’t really what this sub is for. Just hoping it doesn’t amount to anything. Thanks.

Is this NYC craigslist apartment listing a scam?

Hello! I am apartment hunting in NYC and messaged this person for a viewing. They responded and said they are happy to set up a viewing, and asked for my phone number to make planning easier. Here is the apartment: https://www.craigslist.org/view/d/forest-hills-bright-prime-apartment/pvty2hHBagrkpqY9kJPEEB

When I look up at the realtor details, it shows them based in Nevada, and I can only find properties based in Nevada. This makes me nervous.

I am feeling like it is a scam, but as someone who can be overly paranoid about that sort of a thing, wanted to make sure my inclination is correct.

Thanks!

Is this a scam?

I received this message this evening offering to connect with ‘no agenda’ but I’m nervous it’s a scam. I’ve never used LinkedIn before so I’m not sure how common scams are on here so I basically just want a heads up either way

Avoid this user

This person goes by u/Haunting_Wafer_4025

A scammer that gives Facebook links for sketchy websites that'll put you in debt. Once you make the account and ask him what's next. He'll say something went wrong, won't elaborate or guide you. Then immediately send a link to a different site.

Do not work with this person if you see him

AJIO rejected my missing item claim despite a sealed package & unboxing video. What now?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for advice from anyone who's dealt with a similar issue with AJIO.

I ordered 2 T-shirts from AJIO and paid ₹915 (₹510 + ₹405). When the package arrived, it was completely sealed. I recorded an uninterrupted unboxing video that clearly shows:

  • the sealed package with the shipping label,
  • opening it in one continuous recording,
  • only one T-shirt inside,
  • and the empty package afterward.

The invoice and package both indicate 2 items/units, but I only received one T-shirt.

I reported the issue immediately, emailed AJIO multiple times, and even followed up after 48 hours. Eventually, they rejected my claim saying their internal investigation showed that all items were delivered and that the package wasn't tampered with.

I have:

  • Original unboxing video
  • Invoice
  • Packaging and shipping label
  • Screenshots of all chats/emails
  • AJIO complaint number
  • An NCH (National Consumer Helpline) complaint, which is still "In Process."

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone successfully challenged an AJIO rejection like this?
  2. Did NCH help in your case?
  3. Should I wait for NCH to finish or go ahead and file a complaint before the District Consumer Commission?
  4. Is there anything else I should do that I haven't already done?

I'm not trying to get anything extra—I just want the missing ₹405 T-shirt or a refund. Any advice from someone who's been through this would really help.

Thank you!
