Unlacquered Brass faucet.

I’m working on my powder room remodel, and have my heart set on an unlacquered faucet. It has some tight design requirements. Most of what I have found seems wildly more expensive for the lines that offer that finish, and the imported Moroccan fixtures seem a little sus. Is there any reason I couldn’t disassemble a lacquered faucet, soak it in lacquer thinner, clean and reassemble?

Cedar Lamp shades

A couple years ago I swapped out a window for a door in my kitchen and have had six 40” lengths of 10 x 5/8 cvg western red cedar squirreled away since. The plan is to use it for making shades for a dining room chandelier in the style of shaker hat boxes. Problem is, I don’t have much excess material to mess around with. Boards are just shy of 100 years old. Anyone have a sense of thickness x light transmission x radius to help guide the design?
