Just a little baby wearing

Just a little baby wearing

Daisy is back home after a little trip to her artist for a repair! Got her strapped to me bc I missed her. My big cuddly miss

I finished my first baby!

I finished painting and assembling my first ever kit! Reborn Alyssa. This process was so fun and I learned so much for my next baby! She isn’t perfect but I think she’s pretty good for my first try! I spent around 32 hours painting her and 14 hours rooting the hair. 46 hours is not a lot for a reborn baby I’m learning but it is a lot for ME so I’m really proud I didn’t rush her and took the time I needed to get her right

I hope everyone who’s been following my journey likes the result! 💕💕

Last one at target!

Said two in stock online but when I got there she was the last one left 👀

Hm something is missing 🤔

Whatever could it be? 😂

Head to be rooted but I was so excited I did the body already. I think I might’ve overfilled the limbs but this is a learning experience! I also tried to give her a heart shaped birth mark. I had a little blotchy spot that I thought looked a lot like a birth mark especially the spot it was on (I have one on my upper arm!) and I added to it to make it look a bit more heart like. Anyone have birthmark tips? I almost think it isn’t distinct enough because my own birth marks tend to have very distinct edges but I worried that would look “fake” despite being more real.

Thanks!

First kit update

This is my first attempt at reborning update! I have put about 20 hours into her so far and I feel like I’ve barely done anything 😭 but I feel like she is shaping up nicely?

What I’ve done thus far

  1. Veins
  2. Base color
  3. Large texture (3 layers)
  4. Fine texture (2 layers)
  5. Blushing (1 layer w/ fine texture sponge)
  6. Nail, lip, eyelid (1 layer)

I did have a snafu with her head. I tried to prop the head up because it keeps falling over while baking and I cooked her head 😭 I used the flat end of a tweezers while hot to try to push the dents out a bit but I fear it’s permanent. Lesson learned!

Also enjoy my Sid from toy story set up for drying 😂

Any advice appreciated! I’m using genesis heat set paints and a nuwave pro. I also made texture sponges myself by plucking at them. I’m having issues with the paint drying a bit splotchy no matter what I do. Not sure how to fix that? I let it nearly fully dry before baking.

Silicone tools on vinyl kits?

Hi! I'm just curious if I could use silicone tools to help remove dust and debris? I have some silicone nail art tools that I think could lift dirt well but then I remembered that you aren't supposed to put your silicone dolls near your vinyl ones so I figured I'd ask, I don't want to ruin my sculpt! I'm using tweezers rn but it leaves harsh marks I have to try to blot out. Thanks!

Got my first kit today!!!

I got my first kit today! It’s the bountiful baby full beginner kit Alyssa. She’s currently drying out from a dawn soap wash but I’m so ready to start! I had NO CLUE that the vinyl was squishy?? I was expecting hard plastic!! Amazing surprise I think she’s gonna feel so much softer than I anticipated. Wish me luck!!

Update: I’m two layers in (I had to pick up a second hand oven off fb marketplace lol) and man I appreciate every artist so much more already 😂

Some Samantha Photos

Got a little sad about how mean people are about reborn dolls so here’s Samantha to cheer myself up! Her little Jean dress is so cute and her pacifier is so small! For 0-2 months. She’s just a wee baby

OMG?? FIRST SECRET PLUSH PULL

I saw Amazon had discounted some popmart items including the you found me series. I had only ever pulled one myself (moldy muffin which was my goal!) on popnow. I was like. Eh. Screw it. I’ll see what I get I like almost all of them.

UM WASNT EXPECTING THIS!

I shook the box and didn’t hear a chain sound which is how I heard you can test for chomp and buddy and so I joked out loud oh I guess it’s not a buddy dogge! And then I OPENED IT AND FROZE

I’m still in shock

Hand sewing silk bonnets!

I’ve never hand sewn anything before but I wanted to try to make some bonnets for my Samantha! I used one silk handkerchief cut into two (I did two bonnets) and a cotton bonnet. It took me maybe 30 min? I didn’t time it. But I think it looks very professional! I’m really proud of it even though it’s a simple project. I honestly think any sewing beginner could do it!

So I did a thing…

I know I said I wouldn’t but I got a second baby 😂. Meet Samantha! She’s the most stunning baby ever and I’m so happy I did connect with her immediately (Daisy is growing on me, I will admit). She’s by a newer artist to the hobby and would you believe this is the 5th baby she’s ever made?! Insane!! I’m her first purchase off reborns.com and I want everyone to go follow her she’s amazing and so kind!

I cannot convey how real she looks the photos do NOT do her justice. I’m in awe of her really truly.

She is another partial silicone because that’s my preference and she is a bit firmer than Daisy which is interesting! I do think I prefer how soft Daisy is for sure.

Anyway get ready for lots of photos to come of this sweet girl!

Pacifier Lubricant?

So I really like taking my girls pacifier in and out and using a bottle etc. The problem is every time I need to use the little bottle of lubricant the artist sent out with her. I know it'll run out soon and I'm just wondering if there's anything OTC I could get and use that wouldn't damage the silicone? I was wondering if unscented aloe vera would maybe be safe? If not, obviously I'll get a real reborn paci lubricant but considering how much I like changing her up, it would be nice to learn if something more accessible was okay to use. Thanks!!

Feeling devastated, need advice (nothing triggering)

My first baby came and I just don't feel a connection to her at all. I thought I'd instantly love her and feel everything for her that I did to her pictures online. But I feel nothing. She obviously amazing quality and looks crazy real, no problems there. I just... don't feel like she's mine. I spent such a crazy amount of money on her and now I have a doll I don't love. I don't know what to do. I put her in all the outfits I got hoping that dressing her up might help. I've carried her and held her all day. I'm trying to love her. I just don't. And it's making me so upset. Not just because of the money, but because I thought this was my forever doll. A doll to help me during my depression/anxiety/etc. But I just feel sad looking at her.

Has anyone else had this happen? Did your connection grow over time? I just feel lost right now, this isn't the experience I was expecting to have.

Edit: thank you to everyone for the kind words. I’m glad I’m not alone in this experience. I’m going to try to give her a chance but people reminding me that worse comes to worse I sell her are right. It’s not the end of the world! Thank you everyone

I BOUGHT MY FIRST BABY AHHH

I finally bit the bullet and bought my first reborn! She's part silicone (head and 1/4 limbs) and clothe body. I knew I wanted something soft and more lifelike.

I honestly am a bit shocked I spent so much money on myself (I've never made such a big purchase on something not "necessary" before, and it honestly made me feel a bit sick lol) but at the same time I've been through a lot the last few years (nothing baby/fertility related thankfully) but just overall I could use a nice comfort object. I think this little girl is gonna be really great for that. I've founded weighted objects help settle both my anxiety and ADHD and she's just so sweet looking.

Here's her info, she's from reborns.com

||Artist: Caitlyn Bainum || Sculpt: Lisa Stone || Kit: Emmi Length: 22" (55.88 cm) || Weight: 7 lbs (3.18 kg)||

I think the artist did so good on her and I'm so excited for her to be my first baby! The artistry is amazing and when I showed my dad, he thought she was real! She was just purchased earlier today, so I don't have her in my hands yet, but when I do expect more photos!
