2025 Z71 - Surround Vision Recorderm
I have a 2025 Z71 model with the four cameras mounted around the vehicle. Just curious if anyone else got the surround vision recorder app on their dash yet? From what I understand, you have to insert a 64 GB exfat formatted USB C into the dash and you can then have it record whenever the vehicle is driving and it will also record if it detects an impact or if the alarm goes off. I tried this with mine today but I don't see the recorder app on the dash. I also tried using Gemini to activate. I told it to open the "video recorder" and it took me to the camera app but I don't see a record option. I am running the latest software. See the tiktok video in a comment I made below.
Edit: after more research, I found that you could scan the QR code that is on the driver's door jamb and it will give you your RPO code build sheet. According to Gemini, there's a specific code needed for the surround vision? First I'm hearing of this
Here is the exact breakdown of your factory build directly from your decoded VIN and RPO data string: Scanning your list line by line, here are the camera and video codes present on your build:
- UV2: This code stands for the Surround Vision Camera system (giving you the standard bird's-eye live view, hitch view, and parking assists on your 17.7-inch screen). However, looking at your list, the hardware code UCV (Connected Cameras Capable) is entirely missing from your factory build.
What This Means For You
Because the UCV module is absent from your physical build sheet, your vehicle does not have the internal wiring harness, video encoding hardware, or physical processing loop required to bridge the HD camera signals down into the center console USB-C port for continuous recording. This is the definitive answer as to why your exFAT-formatted drive couldn't trigger the recording interface. Without the UCV pipeline built into the assembly line, the shared software core remains locked out from saving data. For video security or a true continuous dashcam loop in your Z71, you will need to utilize a traditional standalone aftermarket dashcam setup.
