Ugh seriously?! We get it Gabbie you want attention.

I saw Elle Bee re-shared this and had to share it here. If you claim you are "grown" and "over the drama" why continue to be petty? We all know Jan will respond but get over it. We get it, you are desperate to be famous, enough already.

Annoying Coworker

I could write so much about why I don't like this woman but I'll just keep it short. For starters our center is small and for the last 10 years it's been myself and the same five people working there. We got a new person a little over a year ago. She wasn't bad when she started but now....yikes. The biggest problems are: she treats one of her own children like crap and favors the other one to the point no return. The child is a spoiled brat and there is really no talking to her. The other is that we could mention something from the past and she will put her two cents in and act like she knows everything when she doesn't.

Today really annoyed me because she has been complaining about the heat since yesterday. She kept saying all of yesterday that we won't be able to even go outside in the early morning because of the heat. There was none, it was nicer outside this morning than in the building. Now we have a severe heat advisory for the next few days and hopefully we can still open outside but we probably won't be able to go outside in the morning. We definitely won't be able to go out in the afternoon. Yesterday she made this big stink about not going outside yesterday afternoon. The weather was normal and it was breezy. Today her child was throwing a tantrum (again) at nap and woke the entire room up. The teacher of course blamed a different child who was across the room and not sleeping, because that makes sense. So because she didn't want to deal with her bratty child, she was asking everyone if we were going out. She copped a major attitude when we all said no it was too hot. She spent all of yesterday saying it was too hot to go out but because she didn't want to deal with the problem she created, we all have to follow her lead? Yeah no. I literally tell my coworkers that the center was better before this person started and they agree. Most of the parents don't even like her.

Thanks for letting me vent. Hope everyone has a good week.

Swing Success!

I forgot to share this last week. One of our 3 year olds learned how to pump his legs on the swing! He would ask for a push and then you know wouldn't pump his legs and then the swing would stop. I tried to show him how before but he wasn't getting it. So last week before giving him a push, I stood over him, took his legs and showed him once more how to bend his knees and go. He tried by himself a few times before finally getting it. He called me over to show me and was so excited. He was showing everyone. Now he can finally "go high" like his brother and all the other big kids.

How Many Days in Advance Should Teachers Know of a Child Starting?

I was told this week that a parent has to pick up paperwork for their 3 month old to start and could be here the next day. That was on Monday and she didn't show up until yesterday which means I could be getting a new baby today. I have no information on this baby except that they will be providing their own formula. I only have one child so it won't make my day as crazy but I don't know anything. My director was supposed to send the parent to me when she got here to get her paperwork so I could talk to her because I have questions, but my director left and didn't tell the teacher taking her place that I needed to speak with said parent. I could just be paranoid but I like to have as much information I can on a child before starting and I feel blindsided.

So I wanted to know how many days in advance you should or would you want to know when a new child is coming.

"THE SWINGS ARE POOPING!"

You read that correctly! I had just pushed the kids on the swings when I walked away one of the kids came running over trying to tell me the swings were pooping. It took my coworker and I a few times to understand and then I had him show me.

In the top corner of the swings there are two things stuck. The first is white and bubbly and the second thing really looks like poop. I had just looked up what both were with a different kid. The brown thing is a Moth cocoon. The white thing with the weird holes is a caterpillar home. My coworker and I were cracking up.

Some Parents are so disrespectful

I had a parent be so rude to me this morning and I was so close to giving him the attitude right back. How can you be so miserable and disrespectful to someone and then turn around and ask why your kids are so horrible? This is a family we never really had problems with. Nothing major but all of the sudden their kid can do no wrong and it's everyone else's fault. They will dismiss their children's behaviors and blame others. There is another child who the older one plays with but the other child isn't as much of a problem.

I honestly can't wait until summer is over and this family is gone. It's at the point where I don't even feel bad saying that.

Happy Teacher Appreciation Week everyone! I hope everyone has a great week and know that you are amazing. It might seem like we complain a lot but our jobs are hard and we sacrifice a lot. Side note please don't be one of those teachers who complains about the gifts they receive from families, there is a disgusting trend going on about it. Just be happy to get noticed. We often are overlooked but I see you! I hope everyone has a good Monday and a fantastic week!

(Also I didn't know what flair to use)

I posted my *nearly* completed first shelf the other day. This is my half shelf with mostly completed series. I probably won't post my last one as it's missing some series. This shelf has:

Fourth Wing - the first 3 books and the Christmas edition, a book dragon sign and a dragon page holder.

Harry Potter - I am a Slytherin and have some of the Slytherin editions, Tom Felton's Beyond The Wand, a ministry of magic sign, my two favorite movie characters, and my lounge fly backpack.

The last shelf has: Dracula, Twilight, and Crave.

This incident happened last week but it's happened before and I want to talk about it.

We are a small center and in the mornings it's only me for about 45 mins. All of the children are dropped off in the toddler room because the toddlers and babies can't play in the 4 yr old room because of some of their small toys. This mother comes in and walks by the room and I said hi to her as she goes by. I had two kids in the room with me and they were playing quietly. She finishes signing her child in and opens the door to the classroom, she realizes there is no one there and goes to the next room....again no one there. So she says, "They must be outside, let's go." She tried to bring her kid outside in 25⁰ weather. I step into the hallway and tell her we are in the toddler room. I explained the whole thing about why we are there, all nicely and she snaps and goes "well I dont drop off this early" then left.

Later I was talking about it with the child's teacher and my director cut in and was defending the mom. To which I said "it doesn't matter if you don't drop off until later, why would you try to drop your child off in an empty classroom or outside when you already walked by a teacher?" If they had gone outside they would have had to walk around because the playground door was locked.

We have had parents drop off their children in classrooms that don't have teachers before. I still can't get over the fact I have to explain more than once that you can't leave a child alone in a classroom.
