College dorms as someone just starting to transition
I’m sorry if yall get similar posts about dorms often, but i wanted to ask something a bit more specific i guess. So some context, I’m 17, going into senior year and looking to apply to colleges that are relatively non-conservative but none have any queer related dorms. Some have quads or doubles, all have gender separated floors I believe. I have non accepting parents so I’m planning to start socially and medically transitioning asap after my 18th bday which is in the summer before college. (I’ve been in denial since 10, just accepted myself as transmasc at 16 so i dont even have a “male name” or a lot of guy clothes or any other trans friends)
My question is, to anyone who lived in these kinds of dorms who also were just starting transitioning or not really passing, how did other people treat you? Like I’m scared that if the school listens to my requests and put me in a male floor, guys are going to be weird or hostile or uncomfortable because i will probably still look or act somewhat feminine in the beginning. I know it’s probably dependent on the people at different schools but i still want to hear what people have experienced with this…
Thank you in advance im very nervous
