Why does every single cafe in Sydney mess up a toasted ham and cheese croissant?
Practically every single cafe seems perfectly happy to serve up a toasted ham and cheese croissant that’s stone cold in the middle then still charge you $12-$15 for it, I’m fed up.
They take the pre-made croissant out of a chiller and slap it straight on a sandwich press that’s too hot. The outside will burn before the inside is hot enough so they have to take it off early with the cheese completely unmelted and cold on the inside. Feels like 9/10 places do this and don’t see anything wrong with it.
If you can’t be arsed putting it under the grill and you can’t do it low and slow on the sandwich press when you’ve got the morning rush of people lined up out the door then for fucks sake just cheat; slap it in the microwave for 20 seconds to heat the ham and melt the cheese then chuck it on the press for a minute or two to crisp up the outside. It’s 95% as good as if you cooked it the right way and it’s a million times better than biting into one that still has an ice cold slab of cheese in the middle.
We gotta up our game here it’s embarrassing. Sick of getting toasted ham and cheese croissants that look like Gordon Ramsay’s grilled cheese fail.
Tip: Use Google Lens to find the high resolution version of the Emma pics you want to post.
So many posts lately have absolute potato quality 400x300px photos that look like they were taken from a Pinterest thumbnail or something. Emma deserves better than that!
Nine times out of ten if you search the image with Google Lens you can find the high resolution original or at the very least a version where you're not counting the pixels. This is especially important for full length shots as her feet are small and often get blurred out the most in low res pictures. Please take the extra 30 seconds to check to see if a better quality version is available, Emma deserves to be shown in high quality!
Very strange issue with my Onkyo TX-RZX830
I have it hooked up to my PC via HDMI. I also have an outboard DAC connected to the PC via USB and connected to the AVR via the analogue inputs. Now the problem is that when I swap inputs from HDMI to Analogue from the DAC, when I swap back to HDMI my right rear speaker is completely dead and makes no noise even when being fed signal. Even from the onboard sound config not even pink noise plays from it. After a few days it usually comes back and if I don't swap inputs again it remains working perfectly indefinitely however as soon as I swap even once back to my analogue input it drops out again and I can't figure out what triggers it to return, sometimes it's weeks before it works again.
Reason why I run two configs like this:
I run two configurations, one with subwoofers and rear surround speakers for movies and gaming over HDMI, and the second just 2 channel, pure audio full range to my fronts just for music. The external DAC has an extremely low noise floor while the HDMI is somewhat noisy and has quite a bit of background static and coil whine from the GPU so I prefer listening in that config for music or just when I'm using my computer for work. I had a previous Onkyo AVR and ran this set up perfectly for years - HDMI when I was playing a game in surround sound and Analogue input from my DAC as default or when I was listening to music.
I'd love any ideas or suggestions that may help me narrow down this issue!
