This is normal right?

The potato’s Patch, Pearl and Peggy are currently at peace following seven hours bonding time (on opposite ends of the cage but a win either way)

I adopted Patch pictured here, his cage mate died, attempts to repair went poorly and his owners gave him up to pets at home, he was alone for months, we had him neutered and are trying to bond with a bonded female pair but he keeps trying to escape them - he popcorns, explores, zoomies, eats well etc alone, we’re in the midst of another bonding session today but is it possible he may prefer to be alone? He’s happier when he can hear them but not actually be with them
