Need advice on taking care after a single guinea pig

I've had a single guinea pig for a year now, at first it was fine, but as I researched more and more about guinea pigs I found out that having them not in pairs is a horrible idea. My parents won't let me get a second one because of they think it will be a larger hassle and their financial situation. I've thought of giving my guinea pig a new owner since I think my guinea pigs current home isn't it's deserved home. Please tell me something I can do to make my guinea pigs life at least a little less miserable.

My baby Guinea pig refuses to feed

Haii as a first time piggy grandma I’m asking for suggestions on how to bring my four day old Guinea pigs weight up. He currently weights 53 grams at four days old (the usual weight for a newborn baby is 60-120) he is very active and eats pellets from the adult piggy’s food bowl all the time, he also eats veggies quite a lot. For context I don’t over feed him, i feed my adult piggy her veggies and he will steal them from her. I will also poke fresh veggies through the bars for her and he has adopted the habit of waiting at the bars for me to feed her. He will also eat a fair amount of hay and he will drink out of the water feeder. The mother and other baby’s don’t bully or kick him out, when he is trying to feed. It’s just when the mother is feeding the rest of the littler he will just sit alone by himself on the other end of my cage when she is feeding. He will also sleep by himself instead of with the group sometimes. He is a very friendly piggy and I don’t want to lose him, any suggestions will be welcomed. Thanks!

Update on the baby! I weighed him this morning and he lost a gram so I think I will start to feed him myself. Any suggestions on that would be helpful!

Meet crumble cookie & prototype

lol today is my son’s birthday and we both got guinea pigs, my son picked the name prototype.
We have toys, water, pellets, and Timothy hay for our babies, and they are both boys. I wanted a girl but i have to wait another week for the girl because she’s not ready yet. I’ll be back with more posts and we’re so excited to get to know these babies

Could my guinea pig be blind?

This is marshmallow!!

He's 12 weeks old and my mum thinks he could be blind, but we cant tell.

I found out that he blinks with one eye most of the time- he has red eyes but im pretty sure they are different shades (if that means anything) and he usually looks quite sleepy.

When you hold him, hes usually very still but also he hardly pees or poos unless youve been holding him a long time and he also rarely wheeks.

Also i think he might have popcorned into the sides of the cage before (?)

Hes absolutely adorable but im interested to know if he is blind, or if i just have an extremely introverted guinea pig, which ive never had before (i have 3 other boys and 4 girls)

I can try answer any questions but if anyone has anyways to tell it would be much appreciated!!

God bless

Guineapig loss of appetite after stone removal surgery

He passed away
Update: Vet is going to cremate him free of charge

My guinea pig had a surgery the other day to remove a stone. I dropped him off at 7:30 in the morning and got him back around five in the afternoon today. He’s been eating pretty good until now. I gave him gabapentin this morning at 10:55 apparently that is supposed to make him drowsy and not move a lot however, right now he’s extremely drowsy. I tried to feed him critical care and he wasn’t really wanting to eat it. He just pancakes out and he lower his head I tried to call my vet, but they told me they’d rather get back to me tonight or tomorrow. Has anybody ever experienced this with their guinea pig after surgery? I’ve been feeding him every three hours.

Is this fine for 2 guineas?

Is this fine for 2 guineas?

It’s **48 × 24 × 36 inches**

Length : 4 feet
Width / depth : 2 feet
Hight : 3 feet

Please please don’t flame me if it’s too small
They look big in the pics but they’re both smaller then average, they are always wheeking and pop Corning, always running around and playing together, seems like they are living their best live, should I get something bigger though? It has a 2nd floor but I haven’t put it in because it doesn’t have a railing and I’m scared they might fall, it would also lower the height of the cage

Please don’t flame me

Feeding help

Hello!

I have 2 boars. They're about a year old.

They get fed twice a day, once in the morning and again for their dinner. I think I'm slightly overfeeding them as one of them (Marshmallow) he's a bit of a chunk. He's not overweight, just a bit on the chunky side where my other one (sir fluffington) is a bit thinner but again, a healthy weight.

We think marshmallow is stealing the food off of Fluffington as he's the dominant one and we've noticed fluff takes his food into his house to eat alone.

They get in great, they have the odd disagreement but over all great.

Now, my question is, am I over feeding?

Everything we feed them is correct so that's not the issue. They rarely have sugary foods unless it's a treat and they have nuggets daily too.

Online it says 1cup a day but I will admit, that confuses me as foods have different volumes.

Now I might be being thick here haha, but how much do I need to feed? I normally don't weigh their food, I just chuck it in.

Can someone help?

Also. How do I monitor marshmallows weight while keeping fluff a healthy weight?

Thanks a bunch 😊

5 year old piggy in need of surgery

I’m not sure if it’s appropriate for this sub, but my fiancée and I adopted two older little ladies a couple months ago and unfortunately their previous owners didn’t take very good care of them so they’ve needed a lot of medical care. We’ve spent a couple thousand on dental surgery and bladder stone removal between the two of them, and now our little Gooseberry needs her uterus removed.
We can just barely afford the surgery if everything goes perfectly, but we would be forever grateful if anyone would be willing to donate to help with her expenses!

is my piggie just a weirdo?

So, I know my son is strange. He always has been. I've had him since he was 4 weeks old and despite properly and slowly introducing foods, he's the pickiest guinea pig on existence. Sometimes he refuses to drink from his water bottle and only wants syringe water (his vet and I are at a loss on that).

However, recently he's started doing another weird thing. I give him a small serving of pellets once a day before I go to bed and for the past couple months when I wake up in the morning he has a wet lump of pellet powder leftover and the pee pad under the bowl is covered in damp crumbs. It's only the past month that the pile is seemingly the same mass as the solid pellets were. I guess he now chews the pellets and... doesn't swallow??? Or perhaps most of the pellet crumbs fall out of his mouth and he only swallows some? Does anyone else have a guinea pig that does this???

I'm not worried - he eats his hay and veggies normally - just confused.

(Don't worry: he lives on his own because he is immunocompromised - he can hear my other piggies constantly and he gets to have quality time with them when I set up play pens side by side for them.

Also: he does not have teeth issues. He had x-rays earlier this year and I take him to the vet regularly - he saw his vet two times last month.)
