feeding early

feeding early

so today i was spending the day out and didn’t know when i would be back so i gave the guinea pigs their salad earlier in the day. they won’t stop squeaking now because they’re used to eating at night. what should i do? they’ve already had two cups of veggies, their daily amount of pellets, unlimited hay, and their vitamin c. should i just leave them squeaking?

guinea pig cage downgrade

so my room is incredibly small and this guinea pig cage has taken up so much of my room i feel like i can’t fit my own belongings. would i be a terrible person if i changed it to a 2x7 c&c grid cage?(2 boars btw) the cage i got them in was smaller than that so it would still be bigger than it was but i feel so bad downsizing. if that’s awful to do i can try to keep it. i do also let them free range my room once a day

Guinea Pig Weight

I weighed my two boars for the first time since getting them. My american guinea pig weighs 2.5lbs and the previous owner said he could be anywhere between 4 and 7 years old. My abyssian weighs 2.1 pounds and the girl I got him from said he just turned one in February. I’ve never had boars before (or anything other than american guinea pigs) so I was wondering if those weights are healthy. Thanks !!!

guinea pig nails

so I got some new guinea pigs at the beginning of april and one of my boys has only let me cut his nails once. After the first time he started hyperventilating every time I try. Ive tried wrapping him up while doing it and distracting him with food (he wont even eat his favorite snacks when i hold him). I don’t know what to do, his nails aren’t super long but I have to figure this out sometime! I know stress is dangerous for their little hearts and I don’t want him hyperventilating. Sorry for ranting, please help !!

p.s.
The first ( and only) time I did his nails I did get the quick a tad because I’d never cut black nails before but I put his paw in flour and he was totally fine, so I don’t know if that’s relevant information all but 🤷🏻‍♀️

Wet poo

So I noticed a few wet poops in my guinea pigs litter box. Neither of my boars are showing any signs of being ill. Could it be too much lettuce? I feed them 2 romaine lettuces leaves a day, and 1/4 a green bell paper daily, and then I add in cilantro sometimes and carrot or tomato once a week. They also each get 1/4 a cup of oxbow pellets, unlimited hay and water (which i change out and check daily), and vitamin c tablet daily. Please help!!
