my boy is on round two of antibiotics for a respiratory infection but I was wondering if this is what people mean when they say a guinea pig has hunched posture. I’ve never known what that looks like so I was wondering if this is that or not. thanks!
i’ve taken my 6-8 yo male guinea pig to see three different vets. he was treated for a pointed tooth but none of them could find anything else wrong. he’s acting totally normal now other than weight loss, could he just be old and nearing the end of his life?
i’ve just started going to college full time and i also work. i fell asleep at 7 last night because i had been up until 2 the night before studying. since i fell asleep before it was dark the coop wasn’t locked up and one of my hens died. it looks like something just reached through the wire and killed her though so even if it was closed i think it still would’ve gotten her (probably raccoon) i feel so so bad and like it was all my fault. im going to get wire with smaller holes.
my guinea pig was getting room temperature fauna flora twice a day because the vet didn’t tell me it needed to be frozen 😭 is he going to be fine? everything i’ve read about probiotics says that basically the effects just go away but I can’t find anything specifically about fauna flora so i’m worried.
so my 5-7 year old boar is on critical care. he was originally getting it every 8hrs (3 times a day) but is now getting it 2 times a day as he’s doing better. I have college and work so I was wondering if doing feedings at 6am and 11pm is ok.
my alarm didn’t go off this morning so i missed one of my guinea pigs feedings and probiotic. he usually gets fed every 8hrs, and gets his probiotic twice a day, but today only got 2 feedings, and one dose of probiotic. should he be fine? he’s starting to feel better and eating some on his own recently but idk i’m worried.
so i’ve had this litterbox as my hay bin (it’s usually more full so they can burrow and stuff) but the lighter guinea pig is getting really old and he’s struggling to get in it. it’s higher up than it looks. i know the bags for hay aren’t the safest so i was wondering what a good idea might be to make the hay more accessible to my old man. thanks !!
do i need to separate them for this? the one in the house is a little sick and has been grumpier than usual probably as a result of not feeling good. they just started doing this, usually the long haired one is more of a nuisance. is it ok to leave them together and let them work it out themselves? or should i give them space so the sick one doesn’t get worked up?
so my guinea pig is sick and he has diarrhea. he has a vet appointment on wednesday and the vet said he isn’t too concerned unless he starts vomiting, but i thought they couldn’t vomit? so i’m a little confused on what he meant 😭
my guinea pig is really old and sick. i accidentally gave him too much medicine and im incredibly upset about it. the er and poison control said he should be ok and im getting blood work just to be sure. we think he isn’t going to be with us too much longer just from being old and sick but i can’t help but blame myself for giving him too much medicine. i read the bottles wrong and i cannot forgive myself. if he dies because of me i have no idea how ill ever move on.

so my guinea pig has been sick and is currently on meloxicam, azithromycin, eyedrops, and critical care. the vet doesn’t know what’s wrong, we tried tooth trims and that didn’t work. the ER advised I bring him in Tuesday but now his poop looks like this. Will he be ok until tuesday? he also had an accidental overdose which i’m beating myself up about so so bad. but poison control, my vet, and the ER said he should be ok. I’m so worried about him he’s really old.
my guinea pig has been sick. he’s already been to the vet and is on medicine but i’m still worried about him. i haven’t been eating or sleeping and my mom says i need to take care of myself. how often is a reasonable amount of time to check on him? every 20 minutes? more? less? he goes back to the vet on tuesday since treatment isn’t helping and the ER said he doesn’t need to come in this weekend but I’m just so worried.
my guinea pig recently starting scratching himself a bit more than usual. he isn’t losing any fur, has no visible bugs, and isn’t jumping or anything. he’s acting totally normal otherwise other than occasional sneezing but I took him to the vet just last month. he only started scratching once my other guinea pig became sick so idk if it’s something psychological?

my 5-7 year old guinea pig recently went under anesthesia for a dental exam and he has to go under again to get a tooth filed. he did just fine with the anesthesia yesterday, but i’m so scared for him to go back under. before he went under yesterday i had to sign papers to say i know the risk and decide if i wanted him to be resuscitated or not if need be. i’m so worried !!
how often do you guys wash your guinea pigs pellets bowls? they each have their own little ceramic bowl. I change water daily and wash bowls and bottles thoroughly once a week but just saw something saying i should wash bowls daily. i feel so bad if that’s true!! if it is i’ll definitely wash daily but i wanted a second opinion :)
i have to take one of my boys to a sick appointment tomorrow morning, but the other boy is healthy. i feel so bad splitting them up for the day, will they be ok apart for a few hours?

so my 5-7 year old boar (iroh) has started to eat less of his pellets, every meal there’s a little bit of pellets left over. he’s lost 63.4 grams in 1 month. he’s still eating hay and veggies normally as far as I can tell. I tried critical care but he really did not want any. I need advice! i’ve been weighing him daily and separating the boys during meals.I’m going out of town in 4 days and am so stressed about him.
so my 5-7 year old boar (Iroh) started losing weight. he’s lost 66g in the span of a month but the vet said he was totally healthy when i took him about 4 weeks ago. i’m about to go out of town, do you think he’ll be ok until the first week of august? he seems totally healthy minus the weight loss! he eats unlimited timothy hay, 1 tbsp of oxbow pellets, a oxbow vitamin c tablet, and a cup of fresh veggies a day.
