I'd appreciate hearing about your personal experience with albinism.
Hello,
I first want to say I know theres a writers page on this subreddit, and I have looked through it, but I want to find some personal experiences from people with albinism so that my character is an accurate and fair representation of this community. I have been writing this story for about six months now, and want to refine my character. I completely understand and apologise if this post goes against any rules and needs to be removed.
Im writing a story about a girl with albinism who's forced out of her quiet, comfortable life into a university of sorts that entirely new. Her eyesight is poor, and she's never been outside of what she knows, so I wanted to ask for personal experiences. How have you been treated by communities you didnt know? How did you adjust to new places and people and what did that feel like? what's are the most frustrating things you experience as a person with albinism and how do you go about them? Alternately, are there any aspects about the condition you like or can use in your favour?
If anybody is interested in explaining their side of life to me, id be so appreciative. If not, thank you for taking the time to read my post. I promise this isn't fan fiction or a passing interest; I feel extremely passionately about this story and its purpose, and would be happy to explain further or clarify anything.
