I’m 24, female, living alone in a smaller city. I work as a help desk technician for a company that was recently bought. We were bought by a private equity company so they’re pretty much cleaning house if you will. There’s about 25 techs throughout all the companies they’ve acquired and they have 5 positions available.
Anyways, I had my interview for one of the positions the other day and it went so horrible. I’ve been looking around for other similar jobs as well and honestly I just hate it so much. I find myself getting frustrated and feeling incompetent. I can do the work it’s not hard, I have my degree in computer information systems. I just do not have a passion for this.
I’ve been really struggling with where to go from here. I feel an urge to go back to school possibly for cosmetology or maybe for a trade. I just don’t know if it’s worth it. I feel really stuck, I don’t think tech is something I’ll ever feel passionate about. I have people telling me though, that jobs aren’t meant to be something you’re passionate about they’re just paychecks.
Do you have any advice for someone in my situation?
