People who have learned piano as an adult, how did you do it?

Hi! As the title says, I (32F) am looking for advice on how to learn piano as an adult. I was taking lessons before I started my masters degrees but I was definitely struggling to get the hang of it. I’ve recently finished with my program and am really hoping to get back to it but I’m definitely on a budget so I’m looking to do as much on my own as possible before getting a teacher again.

Were there any apps that were helpful in learning notes or reading music? Do you have any suggestions for things to do to practice on my own?

I was starting from scratch when I took lessons and I never progressed particularly far so I’m basically starting from scratch again. I have never played an instrument successfully. I was the singer for my high schools jazz band so I have some familiarity with music but that was a lifetime ago! I have an electric keyboard but no books or anything. Any advice is welcome! Thank you! 🫶

EDIT: Thank you so much everyone for your responses!! I’m going to start working on responding. I’m definitely going to get a teacher again I just wanted to start learning the basics on my own :) I felt like when I was taking lessons before I hadn’t learned any of the basics on my own so I felt like I didn’t know how to practice. So this is all super helpful information! Thanks again :3

Free Dog Food

Hi everyone,

My soulmate dog passed away in June. He has a big container left of food. I’d love for it to go to someone who might be struggling or in need. It’s Purina One Chicken & Rice High-Protein Formula. I also have some doggy bags and some snow booties that can go with it, if you’d like. Totally free - pick up only please :)

Free Books in MH Park 8/1

Hi everyone,

I’m moving and looking to start fresh so I’m giving away my book collection for free. I have hundreds of books that include genres like fantasy, thriller, classics, romance, adult fiction, YA fiction, and more. I will be accepting donations but no donation or money is required at all. The donations will go half to saving for my move and the other half to Dahnoun Mutual Aid for relief aid in Palestine.

We’ll be there from 10-2ish. I’m planning to set up ad close to the farmers market as I can. If anyone is interested, I can post an update tomorrow confirming where we will be.

Please come and get some free books!!! I have so many good books that are ready for a new loving home.

I hope to see some of you tomorrow!
