What happens when you go into labour with GDM?

I’m guessing they monitor your blood sugars, but what do they do if they are too low and you are not supposed to eat? Do they ever hook you up to a glucose drip or something?

Restaurant gift card?

Hi all, can anyone recommend a gift card that can be used at lots of different restaurants in Wollongong? I’ve seen best restaurants but it looks like that’s only accepted at 2 - is there one anyone can recommend that is a bit more widely accepted?

Around 36 week numbers are better than previous weeks - is this normal?

I’ve seen a few old posts on this community about numbers being easier to control at around 36 weeks. I’m 36 + 1 and for the last week had no spikes, despite being a little less cautious in what I am eating. Is this normal? Is it likely to continue or just be a brief grace period before reverting back?

Sometimes I feel like GDM makes so little sense to me!

Adding carbs?

Hello! Second pregnancy, first with GDM. 35+2 weeks. My numbers are all diet controlled and pretty good generally.

Baby is a good size but I’ve put on less weight than expected during pregnancy and been told to increase carbs at mealtimes. I’m struggling a bit because certain carbs (eg rice, wholemeal bread) will straight up send me over even if I only have the smallest amount.

I’ve been eating ryvita biscuits, lower carb bread, potatoes, pasta and then things like yoghurt and fruit. Any other suggestions for ways in which I can incorporate more carbs that aren’t rice or wholemeal bread?

Second pregnancy, no GD with first. Told was low risk with second pregnancy when undertook an earlier screening test. Just got tested at 28 weeks and tested positive.

Feeling really deflated. My diet has been atrocious. I’ve tried to follow all the safe food in pregnancy guidance to avoid listeria and food poisoning, but as I travel a lot for work and can’t always cook, it’s meant I haven’t been buying pre made salads, sushi, or pre cut fruit (given these are not considered ‘safe’ unless you make them at home from scratch) and instead have been opting for ‘safe’ foods that I can buy which are often unhealthy (pasta, schnitzel, pastries, carbs etc).

I’ve also suffered with very low iron levels (have a transfusion booked in) and pregnancy related insomnia. I’m exhausted all the time and reach for a lot of sugary snacks.

Working almost FT in a managerial role, and have a 3yo. I feel like I have no time to myself and always put myself last. I’m either working or parenting at the moment, and any scraps of time that I have for myself end up being for domestic chores and life admin.

Now I’m feeling guilty that I’ve put both baby and myself at risk for future type two diabetes.

Sorry to be a downer. I have no idea what I’m looking for. I just wanted to share with someone that I’m feeling really sad and deflated.
