This is my first string quartet ever written. It has four movements, the first being inspired by Shostakovich’s eighth string quartet’s 1st mvt. The fourth movement is a fugue, inspired by Vivaldi’s fugal writing in his concerti. Any questions or comments welcome!

This is my first attempt at a proper toccata and fugue. The toccata, though usually fast and virtuosic, is written slow and quiet here. I took heavy inspiration from Bach’s Passacaglia and Fugue in C Minor. The fugue has hints of Vivaldi, with the ending being the classic Picardy Third commonly seen in Bach’s works. Went to orientation and received a paper with info for perc performance majors, along with a list of things to bring. Sticks, mallets, pretty standard. When it said snare drum, I was caught
off guard. Surely they don’t expect me to go and buy a whole drum? If any past or current perc majors can tell me what they brought or recommend equipment to bring I would be very grateful!🙏
