Research Opportunities after REU?

Hello, I just completed my first REU and was wondering on how to continue doing research...

( The REU was NOT at my home institution)

  1. Do I start cold emailing the professors at my home institution for opportunities?

  2. If so, is there any chance of getting paid?

  3. Would you recommend applying for labs with no undergrad researchers?

  4. Is it important to add a recommendation letter from my REU PI?

too late to apply for on-campus Housing?

Hi, I will be transferring to TAMU this fall, and was looking to stay at the Gardens Apartment across from Zachary.

However, I've noticed there's a $75 fee just for application.

Does this fee guarantee you some kind of spot or no? Am I too late?

And for does, who have stayed at Gardens, how was your experience??

Any kind of response is appreciated!

Accepted for Summer 26, but no Followup

I was accepted to this Astronomy & Physics REU for this summer but haven't received any followups yet...

( fyi: I'm a sophomore and this will be my first REU. )

I got an acceptance letter around last month, but haven't received any follow ups yet like housing, pre reading materials,

Should I contact the program head?? Is it common for an REU to get cancelled??

I'm freaking out since there is less than a month before the REU starts.

Also, for those who have already done an REU before, what's the day in the life like?

Who do you spend the most amount of time with? The professor? masters student? or the undergrad people in your REU program?
