Goalkeepers diving on penalty kicks

If the PK takers stutter steps and actually comes to a complete stop (as Neymar just did against Norway), why does GK still jump to one side before the kick is taken? From the stationary position, it’s hard to generate enough power, so wouldn’t GK be better off actually seeing where it’s going, and then diving after the ball?

Why play not stopped at the moment offside is called

Luis Diaz just got his goal (80th minute) disallowed because he was offside. But why isn’t the play stopped when the offside flag went up at the moment of offside? Why let him get the ball, continue to take few touches , score and THEN call offside? I have seen this in other matches too

Throwing motion-elbow drop

13u player. In the middle of throwing motion, either pitching or fielding position, he gets the throwing elbow up, hip turn flips the hand up, BUT instead of the elbow going up and forward into the layback, he always drops the elbow couple of inches, before moving forward. This ends up in arm being late and separate from trunk turn. The arm must be doing a lot more work than needs because he sometimes gets arm pain even after only 30-40 pitches (60 ft mound) and also end a up with loopy throw from the 3B. Any good cues or drills? Not sure if he’s subconsciously “cranking” the elbow to generate more power.

MLB broadcasters with “interesting “ stat or facts

How do MLB broadcasts acquire interesting/odd/obscure/maybe ultimately useless stats so quickly? For example, the Dodgers were about to lose 1-0 to a lone HR in the first inning. And the announcer said it would be the first Dodgers loss to a lone HR in the first inning since year ____. Is there someone (announcer, producer, etc) that says “ I wonder when is the last time this happened?” And someone looks up on the computer? There’s gotta be a huge amount of data and scenarios. Couldn’t be just a regular search engine that does this, right?

Pitching mechanics-glove side

Son (13U) has pitching motion where he leaves the glove arm just hanging as he finishes and never brings the glove in (and the throwing arm just runs into it at the end). So I looked at some slow motion of MLB pitchers how they look in terms of glove tuck.
Looks like Shohei and Verlander bring the glove in early so that the glove is already on the chest as the torso tilts forward. DeGrom leaves the glove hanging by the waist as he tilts forward but brings it in last second- well after the ball is gone-just in time for the throwing arm to clear under the glove-side arm.
Is this just matter of personal preference or style difference, or is there a functional difference how or when you bring the glove in? Which one is considered better (if it makes difference at all)

Ajax youth system

Ajax academy has produced some amazing players-arguably the best youth system. But the best players never spent their PEAK years at the club. Van Basten, Rijkaard, Bergkamp, DeBoers, Davids, Seedorf, Van de Vaart, Sneijder, DeJong, etc etc. What if they could have kept all those players instead of selling them? How much better would they have been? Could they won even more trophies, especially European Champions League?

If Shohei saw that he was much closer to 1B than Freddie, could he have just rushed back and touched 1B? In that case, would he be safe and Freddie out and avoid double play, thus the tying run scores? Or would that count as two runners occupying same base and therefore still end up with double play?

▲ 1 r/LAX

The last two times we went to LAX there were surprises for us in terms of parking.

  1. forget the lot number but went to get in through the upper level but the entrance was closed due to construction. So the guard told us go in to the adjacent lot upper level, drive all the way down and exit. Go around the horseshoe and come into the lower entrance.

  2. went into lower entrance of lot 3 because we wanted to park in the EV space on first floor. But the EV section was closed off due to construction. Try to go to the third floor EV space but some driveways were closed off and somehow got forced into the exit lane. Went out and around the horseshoe , came back and made it up to third floor.

Both instances , we made the flight because we got there three hours before the flight. But where do I look up before I get there the status of these parking lots and any closures?
