Advice on getting to new Consolidated Rental Car Facility?

We’re set to land tomorrow, May 21st around 5:30pm at the Delta terminal. Our rental car is booked through Hertz and thankfully we should be able to go directly to it/bypass the line.

That said, I’m hearing horror stories about the new consolidated rental car facility as well as the fact that the people mover is not yet operational.

Does anyone have any advice on how to efficiently get from the Delta terminal to the rental car facility? I’m not afraid of a walk, but don’t want to wait an hour for a shuttle that’s inevitably packed.

Bonus points on better shuttles that can at least get us out of the terminal area quickly even if it means a walk to the rental car facility!

LAX: A 30-Billion-Dollar View with a One-Ply Reality

Welcome to LAX, a $30 billion engineering marvel where you can watch a $5 billion robot train mock you from the sky while you're stuck in gridlock caused by a water main that was broken during the construction of a $1.5 billion driveway.

Then, after finally reaching the terminal, you get to experience the ultimate payoff: a bathroom stall featuring toilet paper so translucent it has a "see-through" setting. It’s the ultimate testament to LAWA’s priorities: they’ve issued enough debt ($16.8B) to buy a small country, yet the budget apparently runs out one ply short of a world class experience.

There is a beauty in the irony of an airport whose fees are some of the highest in the nation only to have a restroom that feels like a roadside rest stop.

We’ve pulled out all the stops for the 2028 Olympics, but the toilet paper is still operating on a 1974 "bare fare" model. It’s the perfect metaphor for the whole city of Los Angeles: it’s shiny, it’s expensive, and the moment you actually need it to hold things together, it disintegrates in your hand.

Terminal 4 to TBIT

I will be landing from a domestic flight in Terminal 4 tomorrow at Gate 46B and will need to transfer to TBIT for my connection.

From the map on AA, it looks like the middle section of Terminal 4 is closed. Will I have to leave and go through security again?

The directions in the AA map makes it seem like I have to walk through ticketing and baggage claim in order to get to TBIT. Thanks in advance!

Frontier says my luggage is lost but my AirTag shows it at LAX baggage counter — need help

Hi everyone, I really need help at LAX.
My airline says they “cannot locate” my luggage, but my AirTag/Find My shows the bag is still inside the airline baggage counter area at LAX in real time.
I’m currently not in Los Angeles and I’m trying to find someone who could help by going to the airline baggage office and asking about the bag in person, since customer service by email/phone has not helped at all.
I can provide:
airline name
baggage claim number
live AirTag location screenshots
I’m also going to pay for your time/help.
If anyone works at LAX, travels there often, or knows the best way to escalate this, please message me. I’m honestly desperate at this point.
Thank you so much.

International terminal lounge access with credit cards?

I’ve been traveling internationally a lot recently and I’m looking into getting a travel credit card.

What travel credit card do you use that gives you lounge access at the international terminal? I’m stuck there so frequently a lounge would be nice. TIA!

NU Car Rental

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Feels like a fake organization. They are running an insurance scam if you ask me. Of course they throw in the aww shucks guy when you get there to not totally rip em, but no customer service numbers, no shuttle to it (they charged their location to a desk in the Renaissance).

Just a complete joke of a company. Don’t make the same mistake I did when renting a car.

8 Hour Layover

With luggage not being a concern, are there any recommendations for what I can do near LAX? I'd love to visit the Walk of Fame, but it looks a bit far. Anything I could do realistically in these 8 hours? Thanks!

12 hour layover

I have a very long layover and I’ve never been to LA so I want to explore a little bit. I would love to go to Venice beach, I would also like to thrift a bit. I really want to go to one of the vanderpump rules restaurants SUR, Tomtom or something about her. I don’t really care about which has the best food I’m mostly going for the experience so I might do SUR even tho I heard it’s not the best but any recommendations. I’m probably just gonna get a dessert because I wanna get Mexican food too lol. So I’m mainly wondering recommendations and also about how long before my flight I should arrive to the airport and if there’s any places nearby I could leave some luggage.
Also I’m posting this before I even google anything so sorry if it’s dumb/wrong subreddit

Drop passenger off at Economy Parking or other suggestions?

Dropping off my daughter and friend for international flight on June 17th. Flight is at Noon. Don’t want to deal with the hassle and construction at LAX. Would paying for 1 day at LAX economy parking to enter and then drive out to let them shuttle in be a good alternative? Or any other suggestions? We are coming from SFV.

Checked Bag - Its Been Years - Pls Help!

Wife and I are flying to Spain next Friday with Air France. Although we are not new to LAX and not new to traveling internationally, it has been over a decade since we have checked a bag so I am seeking answers and clarification.

To complicate matters, will be taking the Pacific Surfliner from San Diego arriving at 4:57pm then taking the fly away bus. We can not take an earlier train. In my experience the wait for the bus varies and the ride time to LAX has been 30-40 minutes depending on traffic.

We do have TSA Precheck + Global Entry and now I am contemplating enrolling us in Clear+. I guess my concern or question is, given that our flight departs at 9pm, and our travel to LAX via the Amtrak and the flyaway bus, do we have enough time to check our bags to make it to our gate?

Help money exchange

I arrived at Tom Bradley. There was this exchange in the arrivals right next to an elevator and some coffee place or something. I stupidly bought a sim card there. They asked for a passport was that normal? Sorry my anxiety is attacking me again.

Is the LAX airport always so busy?

I recently had an experience at LAX airport and it was honestly so crowded. There were so many people everywhere that even finding the right terminal took much more time than expected.

The airport shops were also super busy. I wanted to buy a few essential things before my flight, but the lines were too long and the rush was crazy, so I had to skip it.

Sometimes airports feel more stressful than exciting because of all the crowd and waiting.

Does this happen to anyone else at LAX or other airports too?

Seeking experience with Wallypark garage

First time parking my car near LAX for three days.

I have sort of OCD with my car paint and I was looking for places that’s covered and seemed like they have door ding protections and also covered.

I do see that covered area is first come first serve, and I am wondering if I need to go with valet with guaranteed covered service or just park yourself (which is first come first serve) option. Planning to arrive there around 7-8am if possible!

Thank you in advance :)

Family Travel Parking Advice

Does anybody have any advice for parking at LAX when traveling with kids? I will be traveling with my 1 1/2 year-old and 4 1/2 year-old. We will have one car seat and a few bags (2 adults).

Looking at parking prices parking at LAX seems to be the most economical. It looks like it should only be about $100 to park in the economy lot and take a shuttle but for $100 more we could park in the terminal and walk.

Does anyone have any experience with this or advice? TYIA!
