Selling the A7CII for a Fuji ie X-E5. Anyone else made a similar jump?
Long post, sorry. Trying to think this through out loud.
I bought the A7CII about two years ago when I was creating content for Instagram; travel, video, colour grading, the whole thing. Got to around 22k followers on insta and then hit a wall. The editing process completely burnt me out. The camera and content started feeling like a work obligation.
I now find myself reaching for the GRIII. No edits, straight to phone, done.
The A7CII is a great camera. I have the 24mm, 40mm, and 50mm G primes, plus the 28-60 and the 20-70. I have noticed though I almost exclusively shoot the 40mm. The rest just sits on the shelf. I'm not a professional, I shoot friends, family, and travel.
I've been going back and forth on Fujifilm for ages. Worried it was GAS. But I think there's a difference between buying gear to fix a problem you don't have, and selling gear that no longer fits your life. At least that's what I'm telling myself.
Looking at the X-E5 with the new 23mm f/2.8 pancake as my main setup, probably a small zoom to keep and film simulations mean I can get a look I'm happy with in-camera and occasionally open Lightroom. That's the goal.
Selling the Sony kit should cover the X-E5 body and lens comfortably.
I know the A7cii specs and AF is better, but do I need better? The A7cii hasnt seen much adventure lately, and loves sitting at my desk.
Has anyone gone from Sony full frame to an X-E5 or similar and not looked back? Or regretted it? Genuinely curious whether the "you'll miss full frame" thing is real for this kind of casual shooting.
