I don’t understand why our beautiful library at Armstrong Creek has been covered up by yet another daycare centre. I don’t have young kids anymore but can anyone shed some light on the expected trajectory of the infantile population growth that warrants so many daycare centres in every suburb?

Teachers of Geelong

Hi guys,

I’ve just moved to Geelong from Gippsland. Im a teacher who is looking for work next year. I was wondering if there were any teachers or CRTs on this page who can give me some insight into some of the schools here. For example, which schools to avoid and which schools have a good reputation. I’m not too concerned about student behaviour but more interested in the staff culture.

Thank you 😊

Edit: primary schools

Best outdoor proposal spots in Melbourne with nice scenery?

Hey everyone! I’m planning to propose to my partner and would love some recommendations for beautiful spots around Melbourne (up to 2 hrs away from CBD).

Ideally I’m looking for somewhere outdoors with great scenery, could be gardens, a lookout, waterfront, somewhere surrounded by nature, etc. I’d prefer somewhere that feels a little romantic and isn’t too crowded, so we can have a bit of privacy for the moment.

Happy to travel a little outside the CBD as well if there’s somewhere really special.

Would love to hear about any spots you’d recommend (or places you’ve proposed/been proposed to!). Thanks!

Seriously what do we need to do to get plastic shopping bags and straws back into shops and cafes?? I have had enough.

If anyone can prove to me that those shitty paper bags are better for shoppers to use and re-use like the plastic ones, you would probably be in the running to be the next PM. Having to pay for a bag to use once surely can't be any better, or more sustainable, for the environment. The only ones benefiting from selling them are the supermarkets.

And don't get me started on drinking from a paper straw. I refuse to buy a drink if I have to use one and have everything taste like cardboard.

Want to help our native wildlife? Here's how!

So what's the idea? What we want is to get as much art from as many Australian artists together to sell their work with proceeds going towards Winki Wildlife animal rehabilitation sanctuary.

For artists: Send us a PM! We would love to talk about what you do as well as other information and we really look forward to working with you on this goal.

For Donations: Give us a PM to find out how!

For Buyers: Keep an eye on our socials, hopefully there will be some art that grabs your eye!

Everyone else is implored to spread the word! Got a cousin who makes quilts? We wanna know. Got a friend who does pottery? Give us a yell, if you cannot donate or sell then please spread the word!

Recommended Barbers/Hairdressers in Geelong specialise in scissor cuts for men’s medium length hair?

Title says it all. I am growing my hair out and am wanting to get maintenance cuts, as well as, eventually, some haircuts that help shape my hair when’s it’s growing out.

The barbers I went to before like Streets Barber, Sloanes and such specialised more on fades and using trimmers (they did have scissor cut experience, but their brands are more known for fades). Thats what I used to have and it was convenient at the time. However, with medium length hair and the all to have it a bit more flowing rather than skin fade or “short on the side, long on the top” haircuts, I’m seeking someone who has a lot more experience in scissor cuts.

Doesn’t have to be a barber, even a hairdresser that has experience with men’s hair and the classic “I’m growing my hair out, could you help shape it for me so it grows into the desired style?” customers?

Even a stylist could be a good fit as well. Thanks

Geelong short play festival

I had an awesome experience yesterday attending the Geelong Short Play Festival. It was my first time experiencing a community-driven theatre festival like this, and I genuinely enjoyed it.

There were so many talented actors, along with a great variety of scripts, characters, themes, and storytelling styles. Each performance brought something different, which made the whole event really interesting and engaging.

What impressed me most was seeing how strong the local arts and theatre community is. There was a real sense of creativity, passion, and community behind the performances. It was great to see local talent being given a platform to perform and bring different stories to life.

Geelong really does have a wonderful community for theatre, drama, and the arts, and I’m glad I got the chance to experience a part of it. Definitely something I’d love to attend again.

Autoworx North Geelong. Horrible customer service and communication.

I'm so passionate about making sure the public knows how badly this Mechanic treated myself and my dad, that I've logged into a Reddit account that I haven't used in years. Here's a link to my full Google Review because it's a real novel:

Google Review

A warning to anyone that happens to need work done on their car or 4x4. Just don't take it here. Take it anywhere else. You'll run into 1 of 3 people in this place. 2 of them have absolutely no respect at all, and they will belittle you and abuse you if you don't know the ins and outs on how a car works. The 3rd person actually isn't a shit person, unfortunately I don't know his name. But he was only one in here that actually looked like he understood and acknowledged how badly the boss treats customers.

I don't use Reddit at all. So if my formatting is off, I apologise.
