Disappointed in Wayfair!!

I am extremely disappointed with Wayfair and the way this situation was handled. To be clear, I do not fault Alex personally. He was polite, but unfortunately, he was no help because he ultimately told me there was nothing he could do. And apparently, that is Wayfair’s answer when they decide to change the terms of a transaction months after the fact.

I made a purchase in June 2026 and used Wayfair Rewards toward that purchase. The rewards were available in my account, were applied to the order, and were deducted from my rewards balance. The transaction was completed.

Then, FOUR MONTHS LATER, in October 2026, Wayfair sent me an email claiming that they had undercharged me for the item because the rewards I used supposedly were not actually available.

Excuse me? If those rewards were not available, how were they deducted from my rewards balance and applied to my purchase in the first place? I did not make an error at checkout. Wayfair processed the transaction, accepted the rewards, and completed the purchase. I reasonably considered the transaction closed.

I specifically told customer service that I did not authorize any additional charge to my payment method. Their response? There was nothing they could do about it.

That is completely unacceptable. A company should not be able to come back four months after a completed purchase and essentially say, “We made a mistake, so now you owe us more money,” and then act as though the customer has no choice but to accept it.

If Wayfair made an error when processing my order or applying my rewards, that is Wayfair’s mistake—not mine. Customers should not be responsible for accounting errors made by the company months after a transaction has been completed.

This experience has seriously damaged my trust in Wayfair. If a company can retroactively change the amount charged on a purchase four months later and tell the customer there is nothing they can do, then what exactly is supposed to give customers confidence that the price they pay today is actually the final price?

Very disappointing, Wayfair. I expected much better.
