List your favorite speech/ language strategy

Just as the title says! List your favorite niche and a strategy you consistently use/find very helpful! I’ve been an SLP for 8 years now and I’m always looking for new strategies and techniques to use with my clients!

Ex. Articulation- /k/ and /g/ sounds, I have my students use the “magic finger” by sticking their index finger in their mouth, in hopes that they don’t close their mouthes. I also find the Nancy Kaufman gestures very helpful for articulation therapy. i wish I found them earlier!

Summers with grandparents

My son is soon to be five years old and my in-laws are asking for him to spend two weeks with them this summer. He’s never spent more than one day away from both my husband and I and this makes me very nervous. The in-laws live in a busy city and currently rely on public transportation to get around . They’re making me seem like the bad guy for not wanting him to stay away for that long. It’s not that I don’t trust them, I just feel like that type of vacation is reserved for maybe an 8-9 year old. Thoughts?

Edit: so my son has stayed with them for the weekend several times while my husband and I were in town for events. (We stay in a hotel nearby and he stays with the in-laws). He’s had a blast but my concerns:
-He sleeps in the bed with the grandparents as they live in a small apartment. No bed to himself. Personally, I never slept in between grandma and grandpa growing up.
- there is a family member with psych issues (often brushed under the rug) that may visit. I’m not sure how they will feel if I ask for him not to be in attendance during this extended visit.
