Residence inn Jacksonville Florida

Had a bad experience and I think there is no recourse.

Checked in to Residence Inn at Jacksonville Florida (airport area). Once you get past front desk and hit carpet, the smell was very overpowering (strongly scented baking powder). The room also had this problem, but we put our bags down and left to see my Mom.

When we got back at night, my wife and kids reported (seperatly) seeing a bug (one bug that jumped, one bug with wings) i immediately found a new hotel (another marriot) and immediately checked out.

Front desk was understanding, but couldnt help me with refunding that night but said i wouldnt be charged the second night since he was checking me out.

Of course, they charged me both nights.

Marriot customer service said it was a franchised property and that i have to take it with them.

That property shouldnt have the marriot logo. Spent over a year of my life in a !Marriotts alone and this is, so far, the 2nd worst hotel ive ever stayed at (to be clear, worst Marriott).

Is there a way to have this Hotel inspected by Marriot to ensure they are meeting Marriotts standards?

Has Marriotts standards just dropped? I mean yes, it has, but i didnt think it would he this bad.
