Hello! Here to update on the caterpillars hatched from the injured luna moth my preschool students found!

The caterpillars are 25 days old today! Holy hell they are huge and hungry. Yesterday morning I put 6! sweetgum branches in their home and they ate almost all of it before I even left work.

There have been a few casualties, one drowned, one got caught in the zipper of the habitat, but were still 30 caterpillars strong!

Ive been talking to entymology students in my area and learning so much about these guys!

It's truly amazing to watch these guys grow. Each day they are visibly bigger. Each time they molt, they have different patterns and coloring. The way they walk is simply mesmerizing. I think I could sit and watch them for hours.

We also recently discovered that we can actually hear them crunching on the leaves if we listen very carefully!

The first 4 pictures are taken by me and the rest by my partner who is a photographer.
