TLDR: got racially abused on my second day, was mocked and bullied by manager, sold a contract way out of my agreed price range, then got fired for being 5 mins early to every shift. Been a year of trying to stop my account being drained, lost £1000 in savings, been told to go talk to someone else every time. Spoke today and was told if I want to do anything about it I need to sue a multi million pound company as a broke uninsured student.

I worked for EE for about 10 months. On my second shift, one of my store managers (who I had never spoken to or interacted with before) entered the room I was doing my training in, looked me directly in the face and called me a racial slur (I am mixed). This was the start of a long series of behaviour in which he would demean and belittle me, talk to me as if I was a child or could not understand English (I have never lived elsewhere and am in my 20s), and just be disgustingly disrespectful.
Whilst working there, I opted to switch my broadband over from sky as well as set up a new phone contract as mine was so old it told stories about ww2. After discussions I chose a contract that I was told would be £52 per month. I pay £108 monthly now for that same phone contract, and on fact NEVER payed anywhere near as little as the promised amount (contract started at £89 and has since increased). I have been told this is due to me not applying the employee discount that I was at the time entitled to, I was not told that was necessary by anyone. The broadband is supposedly 1TB download speed, but I have not received those speeds past the first week of service, and now am regularly receiving as low as 80Kb (a kilobyte is 1/1000000000 of a terabyte for those who don’t know) and nothing has been done.

Probably about 3 weeks after I had agreed to that contract I was given a disciplinary meeting claiming that I had been “late to every single shift”. I had been late ONE TIME in my entire tenure at that store, and would arrive at least 5 minutes early for most shifts. I was told that was unacceptable, and that even though I was not scheduled to be working or payed to be there by 8:45 it was still imperative for me to be there 15 minutes early and so I was “still late” (9:00 comes after 8:55, so I was early). They didn’t care, and fired me anyway.

Now here I am after a year of attempting to cancel a contract and being told at every opportunity that EE refuses to help me. Today I was on the phone for a full hour just to be told the company refuses to make right unless I want to pay an additional £800, or sue the business for malpractice. I am 25, in uni, and have ADHD. I can not afford to nor do I have the time to do any of that. All I want is to never have to interact with this evil corporation ever again, and have been denied that at every opportunity. I am completely at my wits end and this is making me genuinely depressed with the amount of financial strain it is causing me.

For anyone wondering by the way, my store code was RO72, it was a franchise (owned independently) and has since closed down. This means I can no longer get evidence of my mistreatment, so even if I did have the money and time to sue EE I can no longer evidence of any of this.
