I just hit Platty, and have a trip scheduled through SYD. I will be landing domestic around 9am and transiting to international where I will be enjoying the International First lounge until about 1130 when I go to board my outbound flight.

I am allowed one guest.
Standard rules: don’t get either of us kicked out of the lounge; must be on a OneWorld flight outbound.

I know this is almost a month away. I’ll bump it closer to the time, but want to offer for anyone that has yet to experience it .

I recently sat the beta SC-730 exam, and would suggest that it was one of the best exams I’ve sat ever.

I am an old-school techie. I took some of the early MS exams back in the 90s. I lost interest in cert exams quickly, they didn’t actually validate understanding.

Decades later, I entered the AWS world… and I do hold all AWS certs. Some are challenging, but are still just multiple choice (newer ones are a bit better).

What the Sc-730 does is validates data and cyber security best practices. There are zero vendor specific terms. This is a purely agnostic non technical exam.

For me it was a reminder of the boring corporate videos about data classifications and cyber security (like, don’t pick up a usb stick and pop it in your computer). Nearly everyone in and corporate world has watched those compliance videos- this validates what you should already know.

There are challenging ordering questions: when x happens which order do you do these 4 steps- of which you do them all, and ordering may not be critical.

In my opinion, this exam could easily replace corporate compliance training.

As a techie, I walked in figuring it would be easy for me. I left realising that given I’ve rarely needed to escalate any incidents, it was a great refresher for me.

As they say, security is everyone’s responsibility. This exam helps non technical people validate that they can do their part.
