XJ Future Availability

So I’ve been looking into either an XJ, ZJ, WJ (maybe), or a 3rd gen Ford Ranger to replace my current car. My “ideal” situation is to get the Ranger now, then eventually get an XJ or ZJ in 5 years or more when I’ll have moved back to the west (MT) where I’d REALLY love to have one. Realistically, would I still be able to find a mostly stock one in decent condition for a reasonable price by then? Or would it be deep enough into classic territory that decent pre-facelift examples would be getting above like 10k?

FYI, my definition of “decent” here isn’t necessarily unmodified or perfect condition, just mileage at least below 175k and good condition mechanically and in the frame.

Prioritize Manual or 4x4?

I’m looking into potentially getting a third gen ranger. I previously had a civic and nearly bought a cherokee (XJ), but I thought something like a ranger or ZJ would be a good middle ground between fun and practicality (the bed would also be convenient for moving larger stuff). For a V6, should I prioritize a manual transmission or 4WD if I have to sacrifice one to have the other?

Right now I live in an area that doesn’t get crazy snow (EDIT: Northwest Indiana) but if the truck stays with me long enough it’ll probably end up back in Montana. I love the idea of having a manual one, but is it worth it if I can only find a manual in 2WD, or should I go with an auto 4WD?

3rd gen seats

I’ve been looking into a 3rd gen ranger to replace my totaled car (tornado, I didn’t crash it or something lol). I’ve been curious as to how reasonable that middle 60/40 seat is for a passenger. Obviously it’s not quite as comfortable as a true bench seat but is it decent enough for a (fairly short) passenger to sit there as opposed to the normal seat?
