WGU TOR questions!
Hi everyone! I’m seeking advice on WGU’s Teacher of Record (TOR) pathway and whether my situation is likely to qualify.
My understanding is that through WGU’s TOR pathway, candidates hired into contracted teaching positions may be able to complete student teaching requirements while serving as the classroom teacher, provided the district and placement meet WGU/state requirements.
I’ve recently started applying to elementary positions, leave replacements, and long-term opportunities while also reaching out directly to HR/admin about TOR possibilities.
I guess I’m just wondering realistically:
- Does this sound like a situation where TOR could actually work out?
- Has anyone here completed TOR through WGU?
- Do districts actually consider candidates who are still completing certification programs for these opportunities?
- Any advice on how to best approach districts/admin regarding this pathway?
I am passionate about teaching and would love for this pathway to work out, but I am nervous and would appreciate any honest insight or experiences. Thank you!!
