Evening all! I am just getting ready to start the SPED/EE dual license program! I was told you can request mentor to have a specific mentor.
Does anyone recommend their mentor?
I really want a mentor who is helpful with navigating clinicals and student teaching. I may already have a school/teacher that is willing to work with me.
I graduated with my associate’s degree at 19, then spent years focused on raising my family before finally turning some focus back onto myself.
After starting substitute teaching a year ago, landing a long-term position, and truly finding joy in it, I realized teaching is where I’m meant to be.
So here I am at 31 — terrified, excited, and finally ready to do this for me.
Send all the good vibes, tips, and tricks my way! ❤️
I wrote about my student in my professional development plan who is EC and struggled heavily with math when I first met them, then after working with them on math, they ended up passing their math state test!! Guess that warranted an award!
For WGU students (in NEW YORK) who graduated OR are currently enrolled towards the end of their degree, how long did it take you to study and pass the NYSTCE childhood education 1-6 exams? Also, what materials did you use?
Im interested in possibly getting a Master in education technology and instructional design for k-12. Is there a way to do the capstone without actually working in a classroom yet?
Man, this class is a TON of information. It’s hard to digest everything. For those of you who have taken the OA, do the labs and practice tests prepare you a fair amount? Trying to figure out what to focus on the most since there’s so much!
Thanks!
Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone else has ran into the issue of a completed Mursion not having audio? I had a task sent back for D689, and I can see the video recording, but there’s no audio on it. I am waiting to hear back from my mentor, but I wanted to see if anyone has dealt with this in the meantime? I’d love to not have to do this Mursion again as it’s an issue on their end.
Will this work?
Here's my plan. Let me know if any of it sounds off and please answer some questions.
I am currently working as a para in a sped high school classroom in Colorado. I would like to get credit transfers through Sophia Learning and Study . Com to boost my rate of completion. I'm hoping to do it all over the summer time and be started on the rest of my coursework by early fall (hopefully before the school semester even starts). I have the utmost confidence in my ability to do the classes and proctored exams. However, I am and NEED to be working. Is it possible (if I can get my district to okay it) to do my clinicals at my current placement or does it need to be somewhere WGU places me and/or does it need to be in my field of study?
And then 😅 Is there a way to make sure my student teaching is in my district (they've already said they'll work with me to help get me placed if WGU will)? And have the terms changed in the last couple of years to allow paid student teaching if applicable.
How do you paras do it?
Anyways, let me know any of the hiccups. I would LOVE to be at the student teaching phase by jan of 2027.
Having trouble passing this ticket
i would appreciate any help
Maybe I’m missing a step
I got this email for a task I submitted. Does it mean anything or is this a normal occurrence for all WGU students?
Hi everyone! I’m seeking advice on WGU’s Teacher of Record (TOR) pathway and whether my situation is likely to qualify.
My understanding is that through WGU’s TOR pathway, candidates hired into contracted teaching positions may be able to complete student teaching requirements while serving as the classroom teacher, provided the district and placement meet WGU/state requirements.
I’ve recently started applying to elementary positions, leave replacements, and long-term opportunities while also reaching out directly to HR/admin about TOR possibilities.
I guess I’m just wondering realistically:
I am passionate about teaching and would love for this pathway to work out, but I am nervous and would appreciate any honest insight or experiences. Thank you!!
In short: It doesn’t take long to actually go through the materials for this class, so it’s worth skimming, taking the PA, seeing what you need to study, studying, than taking the OA.
The PA and OA aren’t that different. Good luck ✌️

Key things you should learn for PA/OA
- Differences between functionality-based and capability-based AI and which AI types fall in those categories
- Basics of Human Centered Design (If you’ve been doing the UX classes already, you probably don’t have to dive into this)
- Types of AI and what makes them different:
- HCIA or something. I forgot what it’s called, but low/high automation with low/high human effort. It’s covered in the materials. Really easy to understand and apply.

My notes
I used this video to understand the basics of AI (covered in the materials) then I researched the rest from there: https://youtu.be/cnlIK1C_QLQ?si=xf7j0-ve3Kc_6SVA
- What’s the difference between all of these different types of AI?
Does anyone have advice for this mursion?? I have to do it in a little under a week and I'm SO stressed about it. The only other Mursion I've done was the D658 one about conflict resolution and it went HORRIBLY
